Trump Will Win the Nomination

It's BuzzFeed, so TIFWIW...

https://www.buzzfeed.com/bensmith/manafort-russia?utm_term=.npAQm2Zbd#.prQrm3KJE

With Donald Trump on the brink of receiving classified security briefings from the Central Intelligence Agency, U.S. foreign policy figures of both parties are raising concerns about a close Trump aide’s ties to allies of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Trump’s top adviser, Paul Manafort, has spent much of his recent career working for pro-Russian forces in Ukraine, and doing complex deals for an oligarch with close ties to Putin. And while a Democratic senator has already charged Trump is not responsible enough to receive secret information, Manafort’s deep relationships with top pro-Russian figures raise special concerns.

Not to mention all the barbaric, brutal, war lord/dictators in Africa that Manafort has made millions from in the past.

Let's see Manafort is in the business of selling access and info for millions. How many tens or hundreds of millions would his access to Trump and that info be worth to Putin, the oligarchs and Mafia that will coming to buy that data.

But he's OK to be in there....and Hillary's email (like Powell and rice got) is corrupt and disqualifying...and the check is in the mail......

Do people actually own the land right up to the border or is there some sort of easement? I'd guess it's the latter but I don't really know.

He'll, those people will probably offer pro-Bono security services to the workers building the fence.

Well a wall can't be build right on the border in some places like in the Rio Grande. Some people own riverfront property on the Rio Grande.

You'd be interested in this story of a golf course in Texas on the border that closed soon after the Bush fence went up.

The Fort Brown Memorial Golf Course in Brownsville, Texas, is sandwiched between the fence and the Mexican border. The fence, which was constructed only a few years ago, was not built directly on the border for logistical reasons but rather in a way that trapped the course in a sort of dead zone, gradually decreasing business and resulting in a full stoppage of operation in May of this year.

"Right away, even before the fence went up, it affected our business," Lucio told the paper. "We started having people not renewing their membership."
Lucio estimates that his revenue decreased by 40 percent within a year of when the act was passed.
"I wanted the government to at least say that what they’re doing here hurts people. But I guess they got exactly what they wanted: a no man’s land."

Can't be any less trustworthy than Hilary's server.

Yep, something that hasn't been proven to have been a problem versus a roster full of barbaric murdering thugs. Yep, to a RWer that would be equal.

Ryan, Cruz, Haley, and Ben Sasse have already written Trump off and are eying 2020. Cheney has endorsed Trump because it helps his daughter's House candidacy in WY. McCain's scared he can't win the AZ nomination by dissing Trump now, but may drop him for the general election. Mitt and the Bushes are dinosaurs within the GOP.

Newt, Christie, Sleepy, Perry, Palin, and Huckabee have no political future other than being Trump's VP.

Either the anti-Trump or the Trump hermit crab group will be wiped out. Kasich, Martinez, Little Marco, Mary Fallin, and Joni Ernst are trying to split the difference. They're screwed if the warring factions force them to walk the plank.

maybe the republicans should, you know, embrace Trump and go for the win instead of acting like a bunch of huffy donks.

the dude is so malleable on his positions it's not a stretch to think they could get him to back most of their wishlist

Much of that list is saying Trump should do the opposite of what has worked for him so far.

versus a roster full of barbaric murdering thugs.

Are we talking about Trump's connection to the Kremlin or the Clinton connections to Saudi Arabia? I've lost track.

Neither side has clean hands, and any hand wringing over who should be trusted with classified intelligence is nothing more than partisan bickering.

Heard today that Trump's VP search is going to be open to Democrats if it is a good fit. Could be brilliant and could be a disaster. It will certainly be interesting to see which way he goes.

I think his only chance is if Hillary goes down from some scandal, which I think has about a 1 percent chance of happening. She's the most thoroughly vetted candidate in history, and even though she's a flagrant liar about her server and about parts of Benghazi, none of that is going to stick and hoping it does is merely wishful thinking.

Lieberman is too old.

If Trump picks a Dem, the cons and neo-cons will run away and stay home. They are already dubious of him. Picking a Dem means he'll lose by more.

It's hopeless, then. Maybe Trump will just concede ahead of the election and save everyone the time & trouble of voting. First presidential election in history to be won by acclamation.

Carson said that. Trump repudiated it.

Most of the people on this board are too young to remember the election of 1968, but the Democratic Party then was in much the same shape that the Republican Party is today as far as being hopelessly divided. Anti-war insurgent Democrats led by Gene McCarthy & Robert Kennedy had already driven a sitting Democratic president out of office. A president who had just won a massive landslide with more than 60% of the vote just four years earlier. That, in itself, was unprecedented. Then Kennedy was assassinated and the power brokers strong-armed Humphrey...who had not run in a single primary...to the nomination. To top it off, Kennedy & McCarthy supporters were beaten in the streets of Chicago at the Democratic Convention.

There were massive numbers of Democrats who swore they would never vote for Humphrey. A month before the election, Nixon had a 15-point lead in the polls. In the closing weeks of the campaign, though, as those Democrats considered the possibility of a President Nixon, they slowly & grudgingly "came home". Nixon still pulled out a victory, but this was the final popular vote total:

Richard Nixon Spiro Agnew Republican........ 31,783,783 43.42%
Hubert Humphrey Edmund Muskie Democratic........ 31,271,839 42.72%
George Wallace Curtis LeMay American Ind........ 9,901,118 13.53%

15 points down at the beginning of October, Humphrey lost the popular vote by only 0.7%. Nixon proved to be the Great Unifier for the embittered Democratic Party. Hillary has the potential to be no less so this November. Sure, she seems to have everything going for her right now....but after what has already happened in the last six months, it would be foolhardy to think that there could not be more surprises in the next six months.

The hands look okay.
