Wake Baseball

Just keep winning and it will sort itself out.

Too early to postulate/project too far ahead.

The baseball team is 9-0 on Tuesdays.

Here is what we got left. Warren Nolan has us predicted to go 7-5 and end up with an RPI of 30.

I see 6-6 as the borderline "worst" case. . . I mean, not the wheels falling off worst case, but just "a few breaks didn't go their way" worst case. That scenario would involve winning all three mid-week games, dropping the BC and UL series but not getting swept, and just winning the VT series.

I think it's more likely the Deacs win a couple more and finish something like 8-4 down the stretch. That first game at BC is just so huge.

I'd take 7-5 and run with it. If we don't play well at BC then we will have a ton of pressure on us for the VT series. I'd be happy with 2-1 in OOC games and 5-4 in the final 3 ACC series.

Elon game is a rain out.

so what does that mean? Reschedule, a loss, or wait out the storm and finish late in the night? Hopefully not the middle one. i would think the game would have to go at least 7 innings for it to count right?

It doesn't count.

This is pretty much best-case scenario considering we were down 5-3. Now we could try to play it next week to knock the rust off from finals before BC, but that negatives outweigh the positives in my opinion.

Semantics, I know, but best case scenario would have been a win.

I knew the world was always kind to Wake.

Six innings is a long time left for Wake to make up a couple runs, but the person that was the most happy, I'm sure, from a pure statistical standpoint was Parker Dunshee. He entered the game with a 2.97 ERA and had it just up to about 3.40 at one point. Now those stats won't count, and his ERA is magically back down to 2.97.

It is somewhat problematic that our ace gave up 5 runs to Elon (a couple were unearned I think) in 3 innings. Hopefully just a blip on the radar.

Every 'ace' has an off game. Great timing for it, imho. Mid-week game that won't even count. Got that out of the way!

I think Wake would have probably won. I've seen Elon play a few times this season and they're not a great team but I'll take a non-play. If the difference between us making the tournament and not is that we didn't get one extra win over a team ranked around 200th in the RPI then we're in more trouble than we thought. The game just getting postponed, hopefully never to be replayed at all, just removes the possibility of a bad loss where a win doesn't really matter.
