Wake Forest #1 NBA Factory

Wonder what this says about the coaching that has been at Wake Forest.

Based on the results, we have a great amount of guys that are undervalued in the draft and outperform in the NBA. Does this mean we have had guys with lots of talent but just weren't coached to their potential.

Compare us to Louisville and Indiana, where the very good coaches may have actually gotten more out of their players from being super-well-coached/developed.

It means we haven't had enough depth of talent and our borderline prospects like Gray and Big E don't get drafted due to lack of postseason success.

He's definitely been a miss. He only was offered a one year deal last year, which is pretty bad for a #8 pick. That said he's been a useful player. He's a good defender and rebounder. He is literally one of the worst offensive players in the league though.

Tell me your 3 better #8 picks in the past 15 years.

How about 10 of em. rudy gay, channing frye, jamal Crawford, andre miller, larry hughes, Kerry kittles, Brandan Wright, Jordan Hill, Brandon Knight, Terrence Ross

AFA is a defensive specialist who often gets benched by his coach for playing bad defense.

Brandon wright and Jordan hill are not any better than Afa. I think his career is much brighter than either of those guys.

AFA was in the classic position of a borderline candidate drafted on size and potential. He was an elite rebounder on the college level and that typically translates to the NBA. But he had very little offensive game. He could have stayed and worked on his game for another year (or even two) or he could take the money and supposedly work on his game in the NBA. He basically needed to do what Howard did - expand his range and add a jumper with potential 3-point ability. Howard added that in his junior and senior years.

Yeah, but then he would have been Bzdazzled. Who knows what that would have done to him.

Heck, for all we know if we had AFA for another couple years, we might still have [Redacted]

We didn't have a chance but that game definitely ended after Dino took AFA out for foul trouble.

To be nit-picky, I don't think the article really concludes that we are the #1 NBA factory, more like that the NBA players from Wake have most out-performed their draft position. That is a different point altogether...
