ATP: Help Me Move to San Fran

also, any advice on working with a future employer on relocation or a cross-country move would be great. they offered a relocation bonus, but i'm not sure how far that will realistically go.

~$5k should cover it

i think that's one of the spots i'm looking. a lot depends on where my clients in the bay area will be and how often i'll be onsite.

no, dummy.

yeah we bought a tiny condo for a good price, so we can rent it seemingly easily to cover all mortgage+condo dues+taxes+etc.

yes, she will be coming with me. it defs makes the logistics harder to figure out as she's hesitant to leave her job during busy season, but i think we can figure out a way to do it in a somewhat hassle-free way.

thanks everyone!

LOVE WILL FIND A WAY PHAN! YOU CAN DO IT!

Are you going to stalk Buster Posey? I would stalk Buster Posey.

I kind of hate San Francisco because my friends that move there never come back. But it's awesome. I don't have any real advice. I went barrel tasting in Sonoma once. You should do that.

Kinda dirty. Lots of homeless. People there are full of shit and full of themselves. Great place though.

Phan just camp out in the Tenderloin, they will accept you as one of their own.

Though someone told me they are trying to clean up that place, too, which is lame.

Well, this is exciting. I can't wait til Phan moves to San Fran and gets hit on by gay men. I am expecting great threads and much amusement from this.

I am generally on board with cleaning up areas that require a warning to visitors that if you accidentally wander into said area, there is an above-average possibility you will be murdered.

It has character you pussy. It was awesome walking along the main thoroughfare of San Francisco in the middle of the day and feeling like you could get a shiv in the kidney at any time. Put hair on my chest.

You have to eat at Yank Sing...

And make a pilgrimage to what was likely the first real sports bar- Lefty O'Doul's-you will absolutely freak the fuck out seeing REAL pictures of the true legends of baseball. It's not a cliched millennial sports bar.

they just accepted my counteroffer, and we finalized a start date. starting work january 22nd. i'll be working from home mainly with some days in menlo park and some downtown (and some travel to seattle, portland, vancouver, and la). as a result i'm thinking southern part of the city for ease of getting to menlo park (mission/castro/bernal heights/potrero heights/soma). any good input on those spots?

I have a couple of friends that live in the Mission and Noe Valley and love it. I've always enjoyed hanging out in those neighborhoods when I've gone to visit.

found a spot in bernal heights i love, but it's available soonish. hoping i can get them to hold it for me. we'll see. it's got an organic butcher on the block with a bunch of little markets and stuff. i'm going to be such an insufferable hipster when i move there.
