"We work on it. Ask them." VIDEO POSTED

"Yea. No. You're right." Well said Jeffrey.

Has Bz ever had a human interaction? Why are his arms crossed? That's the universal signal of being closed off and defensive.

Jeff [Redacted]

Sheldon Cooper

Think about it. Except Sheldon is actually apparently good at his (fictitious) job.

Dan needs to grow a pair of balls and ask why [Redacted] always has poor rebounding teams.

Yeah, I don't get why he doesn't. If I was Dan and a guy was THAT obvious about disliking me and I had the power to write about his job performance, I'd be asking difficult, yet fair, questions all the time.

Worst that could happen is Wake stops Dan from having access... then Dan has an even bigger story. (so I don't think even this Ath Dept would be stupid enough to cut off his access.)

Don't worry, one of us on here will ask him that on the Bz radio show on Thursday. We need to bring the heavy artillery.

Dan Collins has basically been Baghdad Bob for Ron Wellman. He's a big part of the current problems with Wake athletics. He's so close to the action that he didn't see this coming. It makes it tough to take his "take on Wake" seriously.

Disagree. I think that's exactly what he's afraid of. I mean, if they will threaten to cut off "insiders" over postings on a message board not even made by said insiders, where do you think they will stop? And the other papers give coverage to Wake that is cursory enough that they won't bother to ask tough questions. Next thing you know, the Journal is running fluff AP pieces.

If Wake cuts off a local reporter from within the same city as them for asking tough, but fair, questions, then they would have a circus on their hands.

Dan Collins needs to sack up and take these jokers to task already. Enough pussy footing about, hippie.

Buzz does not make excuses so I believe this article is false ;)

Here might be one reason that we have problems rebounding: our 2nd biggest player on the court takes a 3 with just Devin Thomas on the low block with 3 other HP players around him,,,,,hmmmmmm?

Is this the same man who said on the coaches show last Wednesday how he never passes the buck and always takes responsibility?

"First of all, I'm never going to throw my players under the bus.... in the media."

“The worst feeling for a coach is when your team doesn’t play with emotion, discipline, or passion, and appears to just be disorganized”

12.29.08
“Buffalo had more energy than we did and they had a will and a want-to. I can’t dive on the floor, or take a charge for them, I would if I could. But I can’t do those things and we drill and show them those things.”

1.5.09
“We’re just not deep enough, I wish I had confidence in our bench, but people don’t see what I see in practice. They need to step up and help because we run out of gas”

2.25.09
“Defensively we are so soft; we’re just a soft team.”

“The lack of passion and effort from a great majority of our team was embarrassing.”

“Passion and a commitment to play the game the right way. Tonight that was absent from a great majority of the team. I know I am embarrassed, I would hope our team is embarrassed because I am”

12.10.09
“We were selfish, we lacked toughness, and we weren't very poised. What we can take from this is to learn and understand why we got our butt whooped.”

“I thought we were very selfish and undisciplined. For whatever reason, I don't know, but it showed tonight."

1.2.12
“Their kids played a lot harder than us right out of the gate.”

"I can't coach effort. That has to come from inside."

"Am I embarrassed? Yes," [Redacted] said. "But I'm not going to be like that. I'm going to give Texas Tech credit. They respected the game and they played the game the way it's supposed to be played. Hopefully our players learned a great lesson."

"That's the most embarrassing thing I've ever been a part of."

1.19.09
“I use the analogy, the other day, I saw three little boys playing, and they were arguing, ‘It’s my truck. It’s my truck.’ And they’re fighting,” [Redacted] said. “It’s like, ‘It’s our ball. Hold onto it. Let’s be a little selfish and nasty. The opposition … you can’t have it just yet until we get a good shot off.’”

"We've got a soft team," he said. "I've recruited a lot of nice young men."

If you want a foil to how much of a dick Bz is, watch this video of Rountree from the same post-game press conference and listen to how he responds to questions about the team's (and his!) rebouding.

"I gotta get more rebounds... I don't think I put enough effort into rebounding... I don't think I put enough effort into getting on the boards... We've got to work on [rebounding] and get better at it as a team."

Rountree works hard, always gives a great effort, and is likeable. Love his positive attitude.

Rountree is my second favorite current Deac behind Camp at the moment. Both of them are gifted, well-spoken, and really likeable guys. Rountree has to develop more, but I seriously love this guy.

Right now Deman and cagles are furiously trying to figure out why their attempts to ban Dan from the WSJ web site aren't working.

Must be an IP glitch.

Funny, I admittedly skipped some parts at the beginning, but he seemed to be cordial to everyone other than Dan Collins.

Others may have seen this already, but here's the video of Bz saying his infamous line. Dan asks the question around the 4:53 mark.

Wait. Did I just hear Bz's obligatory "When I coached Carmelo Anthony' reference?

Dan has to cover and report on WF sports. He's not an analyst. He's a reporter and when I'm looking for coverage of a WF game, I don't want editorializing. That said, you can't really expect Dan to alienate the very program he's assigned to cover. Say what you want about him but Dan Collins is not a WF fan and he's certainly not a shill for Wellman or [Redacted]. When coaches and ADs come and go, he still has to earn a living covering Wake.

I disagree with that. He took Grobe to task in two articles for not going for the first down in the infamous Clemson Thursday night blowout. He is needling [Redacted] and has used terms like "debacle" to describe Wake basketball. Wake absolutely could go cold on him and cut his access. He's a sports reporter for a medium/small North Carolina daily, not Sports Illustrated. He has to be careful. He certainly can't write anything personal about Wellman...he'd be done. But I would bet he sees what we see. It's obvious from his articles that he reads these boards.

That side to side tongue wag thing is very strange.

Even when he gives a solid answer it comes across poorly. Saying he can't say what he told them during the time out and then explaining it. It's like he was considering giving away a top secret change that no other coach understands. Yes bzz you are a brilliant tactical mind. Don't surrender your secret unnecessarily or the other coaches will have an advantage over you...
