NFL wildcards

I have no problem with him playing until that first incident where he threw his helmet off. He was clearly ineffective after that and was not a run threat so Alfred Morris is easier to contain.

Well since Skins fans are alright with mortgaging the future of RG3, while everyone else is horrified, maybe they have the perfect coach and the one they deserve.

Skins fans aren't OK with it. I'm just defending it and I'm in a huge minority. If we weren't going to gamble at all then we should have shut him down after the Baltimore game. No division title, no playoffs, all on hope that the future will work out exactly as we want it to.

If you want to play it that safe, then fine. But once you make the decision to play him I think you kind of need to see it through and live with your decision. There is always, always a risk of injury.

You dont take the playoffs for granted. There are no guarantees we will be back there next year or in years to come even with a fully healthy RG3. You try to win the game. Its easy to sit back now and look at the way the game went and say it was a mistake. But I would be much more frustrated if we pulled him up 14-0 and we lose anyway. Its not an easy call but I'm OK with it. We've all got 8 months to lick our wounds and come back stronger. At least we know we have the balls to give ourselves a shot when the stakes are high.

EDIT: and now hearing he could be out all next year. Regardless, its a tough call. If its an ACL, I dont see how it could have been avoided since it is a compeltely different injury.

The Strasburg corollaries here are delicious.

You don't have to take the playoffs for granted but you should be somewhat realistic in your chances to make the Super Bowl. There wasn't a chance in hell the Skins were going to make it to the Super Bowl this year, why mortgage your franchise QB's knee (of all things) on a wildcard win?

They would not be sending him for more testing if the first MRI came up clean.

I realize on a national level no one was giving them much of a shot. But for me, on principle I just dont like the attitude of, hey, we dont really have a much of a shot at this thing this year, and we should probably just throw in the towel and wait till next year. Especially a team that has won 7 in a row, is at home for a playoff game, and looking at the big picture, this is probably the best team the franchise has had in 20 years. Laugh all you want, but several WC teams have won SB lately and I think if you are in it, you have pretty much as good a chance as anybody.

You should have benched him after that INT. No doubt about it. Put in Cousins, run the ball 65% of the time, and pray the D holds up. Morris had 3/12 in the 3rd Q and and 2/8 in the 4th Q. Awesome.

@RGIII When adversity strikes you respond in one of two ways....You step aside and give in..Or you step up and fight.

knee is fucked

When Shanahan should have pulled him (start of 2nd half, after the INT etc.) is debatable. However there is no doubt he should have pulled RG3 before the injury. Negligence at its finest.
