Wake-Clemson Game Thread

Only 11 turnovers. We shot .246 from the field. We shoot 40% we win. Off night, but some credit to their D which was very good. Let's dust ourselves off and beat Va Tech.

He's been the coach for 3 fucking years and he takes no ownership or responsibility for their failure and ineptitude.

#battling the word pat shurmur always used after browns losses

Did you even fucking watch the game?

The fact is that we were not going 4-0 in this stretch. We need to split with Clemson and VT on the road. Win @VT and we will have done what we needed to do in this stretch.

I know every game is a referendum on the team, but a win @VT would say a lot about the team.

BTW, Travis has only one road win in the ACC. CJ is the only player with more than one. So the road is going to be a huge hurdle until they figure it out.

This is the kind of logic that you apply to actual competitive D-I college basketball teams. Not whatever this team is, running whatever bullshit system Bzz runs. This team will never win anything of significance because their leader is a 99-pound-weakling mental midget, who is beaten down and dead inside. His only defense is to be a snarky, defensive asshole because he knows that he'll never succeed at anything, ever. At least when he's in charge. He needs to just quit and go find some nice quiet place, to go die.

Yes, Cavanaugh was 1-12 from the floor. I don't remember him taking a bad shot (save the one time he should have jammed it and went up soft). A lot of good looks. He needs to shoot when he is open. Wasn't falling tonight.

Seems like he's an alright scout. Just go do that. Some people aren't cut out to be the main man

I could only stand to watch about half the game, but I can remember at least three times when Cav went up within three feet of the rim and missed terribly.

Cav is only shooting like 30% on the season, it wouldn't have made a bit of difference if he made 2 more shots. We got our ass kicked up and down the court, and us missing shots was just a symptom of that. Why do you think Clemson blocked so many of our shots around the rim, and then got so many dunks on us? Why don't you ponder that.

Games like this serve as a good reminder of where the program still resides

On the bright side, RealTimeRPI has us going 0-fer in the ACC on the road, if we can win just 1 we are beating expectation.. :(

It's funny, but the worse we play, the easier it is for the AD to get those talking points out to make [Redacted] look better. Announcers just can't do a ton of research on every team they cover, especially not poor ones like Wake. You know that the AD gives the announcers info sheets so that the announcers don't have to do that extra work. Then, when the game is a blow out and the announcers are trying to fill time since the game isn't worth talking about, hey look... all these nice stories about what Wake is trying to do and how [Redacted] is a great coach.

This, so much this. The one guy actually acknowledged that a large portion of the fanbase is angry with the direction of the program, but says "But that's too bad because RW says [Redacted] isn't going anywhere." Basically a giant middle finger from the AD's office. Then throws out some garbage about how Wake wants four-year kids... I'd take a year or two of Chris Paul over four years of bottom-dwelling ACC talent any day of the week.

I just feel like this stuff we're being force-fed about culture, and good kids, and not compromising values is the most frustrating thing they can say to me. Not that I have anything against good character and all that, but it's almost like our school is being run by somebody who has no idea why Wake alums/students/fans love Wake, but they read about the school's values on a brochure, and they now think they know more about what Wake stands for than we do... and they're going to do "that" come hell or high water.

That's a damn good post, damned good. So much truth.

Let's talk a minute about character. Skip and Dino didn't have player with character? Seriously? This is the biggest fraud foisted on the alumni. We had many players with amazing character. Who didn't love LD and his love for Wake? Or CP? Skip turned Josh's life around and he was an inspiration in his love for Wake. And then there were the walk ons who got in the game back in the day. Seen a walk on lately? Bzz sucks on so many levels I can't wrap my brain around it anymore. I love the talent we have and hate the coach. Even if we reach moderate success I still can't get behind the guy. Sermon over.

That was Cory Alexander who was spewing the AD talking points tonight. He's from Richmond and I believe is a bit of a mentor to Travis. He's not exactly a neutral party.

Fixed it for you. 21% on the season from 3 and 30% overall, he has not proven that he can shoot when the lights are on. I don't give a crap about what he does in practice or did at some high school camp.

Our offensive game plan was to create 3s for Cav. Fucking brilliant.
