2013 FB RECRUITING MEGATHREAD: Stevenson! 1RB,1DL,1K,2WR,5LB,1QB,5OL,3DB,2TE

They are extremely young, which is why they are largely unproven. They may well do great things at NCSU, but don't be a homer, there is not much in their collective backgrounds that points to great, immediate success. Even Doeren accomplished what he did last year with the quantitatively easiest schedule in Division I football. I'm not trying to throw salt on your enthusiasm, but I just don't see anything that leads me to believe they are going to be conference leaders anytime soon.

Oh no offense taken, us Wolfpack fans are just fired up about the new staff. And even the most pessemistic fan would be fired up about having a staff that included a HC coming off an Orange Bowl birth (was also the DC at Wisky during which they went 28-11 with a Rose Bowl appearance, an OC who just helped to coach his team to a Rose Bowl birth, and a DC who had the #17 total defense last season. None have really proven they can build and sustain a program but I think it's safe to say all have shown they can coach the game of football. Either way it will be interesting to see how it plays out.

And that's enough of me, i'll get off you guys recruiting page, thanks for letting me stop in.....

I enjoy your comments. I suppose the new NCSU coach could be the real deal and you all are very happy. Glad for you.
I don't know much about him but this statistic given about No. Ill. during the Orange Bowl took me by surprise. No. Ill's strength of schedule last year was 120 out of 120. Thus lofty stats likely should take that into account.

Oh yea, there schedule was a joke, and thats the sole reason they waltzed into the OB. But I guess I'm looking at it as at least he beat the teams he should have beaten. That's not something we have been able to say an NCSU coach in a long time. And our schedule next season is about as week as any i've seen at a major program. 8 home games, and 2 of the 4 away games are in the state of NC. That's just crazy. Guess we can thank re-alignment!

Still think we get Grayson we have more time available than NCSU and he wants a business school. And it is between us and State.

This Gaffney thing has just been ridiculously frustrating.

What is the Gaffney thing, exactly? Is it just that they have big recruits who we always "almost" get?

Yeah, Gaff-Kneed again. We get our hopes up and the "Dream school" offers at the end. Quinshad and Duncan last year. Harrel the year before, Tim Jackson the year before that. Miller says he always wanted the Vols, but Dooley didn't bother. He has family in Knoxville and they all want a short ride to see him play. But, even if we don't get him, this is an outstanding class for a 5-7 team whose last winning season was when these recruits were in the 8th grade.

Seriously, Grobe needs to offer some scrub from that town and pull his schollie on the day before NSD just to return the favor to Gaffney.

Rumor on bleacher report says that South Carolina making a late push for Grayson

I checked out 24/7's site. SC isn't listed for Grayson. Maybe some wishful thinking from bloggers. 24/7 has Miller in Tenn this weekend, then maryland and us Feb 1st. Also they have Grobe as the coach recruiting him.

It is a part of Wake Forest to watch guys who are big targets for us fall by the wayside to "bigger" name schools who find themselves with holes and get these guys as after thought second or third line targets. Usually the higher rated guys who love us for a long time and play the string out are really using us as a safe fall -back program while waiting for what to them is a bigger offer. Time seem not be on our side as a general rule although there are exceptions like Phonz.

We need these dudes to rebuild our defense. Please come to WF!

We have a huge recruiting weekend coming up this week. Two DL will visit Jaylen Miller and Justin Madison, a nice looking cb prospect out of Texas Cydney Calvin, 2 lb in a nice looking player Nigel Harris(fl) and Leon Jacobs out of California. Our biggest recruiters will be visiting with them in Tyree, Helms, Serigne, and and Gardner. I am beginning to wonder if we will move one or two of our 8 lb we might take to DL. Landing 3 out of these 5 would be huge.

Plan B is in effect. We have offered Duke Ejiofor of Aleif Taylor HS (Houston). He's 6'4",215lbs with a 4.53 40 and a 39 in vertical. His teammates Prevot (USC) and Orkoronwu (Oklahoma) are 4 stars. He'll be visiting on the 25th. He has a soft verbal to Rice. This is the time of year that we got Tylor Harris and he played this year as a freshman.

What do you all think of us recruiting someone who has already made a verbal to Rice (or any other school)? I'm not sure what I think of it myself. I don't think I care for it.

We're in the fight for our lives for these kids. We lost 7 guys two years ago. Last year Alec Morris switch to Alabama from us, (what was he thinking?). Ejiofor is being recruited by coach Jackson (Ex Rice coach). This is his old hunting ground, and the reason he got the job. Beside, he's listed as a soft verbal, it was his fall back just like Alex Montgomery had with us. It's not our horse, til it's in our barn.

Duke received an offer from Missouri and hedged a bit. WF turned up the heat after the kid flinched. Like Wendell Dunn, he is a helluva athlete whose best football is ahead of him. Miller has pedestrian speed for a DE @ 4.95-5.0 but he does have a quick first step. This kid, Duke, is explosive but needs a couple of years to fill out. He would likely impact as a RS Soph.
