Wake-Virginia Tech Game Thread

In fairness, he did shake hands with all of them. It isn't like he pouted and stormed off of the court without shaking hands with the other team. He gives us plenty of material to complain about. But this just isn't as high on my list.

I was at the game. What may not have been shown on TV was that as Bzzz left the court (after the handshake line) he rared back and punched his palm with his fist. Personally, I was glad to see that much anger from the man. The final play was at the other end of the court from me so I can't opine on whether a foul should have been called. There were at least 2 blocking fouls called against Wake in the second half that stunk.

Sure he's mad- he won't sniff another possible win until we play VTagain the very last game of the season.

On the upside 10 wins is far short this season for Bzz to survive.

Hopefully the media references that in future Bz articles. That's something that has to embarrass Wellman if he saw it. I have never seen a coach so pouty in a postgame handhake. More combative or confrontational yes, but not more pouty and pissy.

Nothing would embarrass Wellman when it concerns Bzz. If questioned, Ron will put a positive spin on this; it just shows how competitive Bzz is, and how much he wants to win at all costs.

First of all, we have a few possible Ws before VT. I just watched a god awful FSU team that plays poorly on the road. MD and Miami are better than we are, but they're more than capable of stinkers on the road. Throw in @BC and GT twice. We'll have more than 10 - I'm guessing about 12 - but we'll have a handful of blowout losses in there too. But whether it's 10, 11, 12 or 13, does it make a difference? All of those numbers are pitiful in year 3.

But my question is how are you so sure that such a low number of wins will cause Wellman to fire Buzzdick? The indications seem otherwise. And I keep asking this - even if Wellman fires Buzzdick, do you have any hope that Wellman would hire a competent coach? Further, is there any indication that Hatch gives a shite? I would answer no to each of those questions.

Wake's actually been average in the ACC in rebounding. Doing a really good job on the offensive glass so far in the conference season (5th in the conference).

So far Wake has rebounded more than 50% of our misses. That's a ridiculous rate.

Numbers, I haven't seen us play much, but, maybe that's because we miss a lot of lay-ups, as well as put-backs.

We got beat by a historically poor basketball program with a new coach and 6 scholarship players. There are no positives. An NBA-level coach with 3 years of recruiting and 2 of the top scorers in the ACC should've had this game, easy.

Moto had a rough game. But he's still my boy.

This loss sucked cause we played fairly well for long stretches. But CJ has to hit shots in order for us to win any game. I think we all know that.

Agree that we have quite a few opportunities for wins, my concern (forgetting the whole impact on Bzz) is that the next stretch is now going to shatter what ever confidence the freshmen have.

NCSU - top team likely loss, maybe an ugly losss
@GT - we always play like crap there, good or bad teams
dook - I'm sure Kelly will wind up back for that one, even if he has to play on one foot
@MD - a team better than us on the road
@UNC - another team better than us on the road
FSU - after UVA maybe a win but should be good enough to beat us

That takes us to @BC which is the best next chance for a win, but if we are on an 8 game ACC losing streak the wheels could be completely off by then.

In my view, somebody maybe one of the freshman (CMM or Devin), has to put an end to this. For BC, UVA, VT, we lead by 8 points or more in the second half. If someone steps up and takes control we should cruise to the two wins and pull out VT. I think right now everyone is waiting for some one else to do it.

I hate it when I look on Scout occasionally and get pulled into arguments. Fusiondad is the best poster over there and I used to run a parody account of him. It's weird over there.

Over the last 10 games in the series, VT is 8-2. Not bad for a "historically poor" program. BTW, VT beat Wake both in 1976 and 1977, back when Wake had Skip Brown and Rod Griffin. My point is that looking at today's teams, VT has at least comparable talent. My biggest complaint about Bzzz's strategy yesterday was in not pressing more. My thinking is you always try to wear down a short-handed team, particularly one without a true point guard.

We're staring down the barrel of a 30+ point loss to the wolfies AT HOME in year three of our Bzzz debacle.

I noticed a little diversion from the lame ass WakeForest.com. They show the game as being on saturday, feb 22nd. Makes sense: the fewer who see the travesty that our program has become, the better.

Not to mention VT beat #1 Wake 4 years ago.

Are you thinking about the game in B-burg 3 years ago when Chas picked up a questionable T late in the second half? I was there for that one. I'm start to believe I may be a jinx. I've seen 3 Wake-VT games at Tech in the last 7 seasons. Wake has lost them all.
