Official 2012-2013 NBA Season postmortem

Majic, 'the Spurs need 30 to 35 point quarters to win'. I'm sure he meant 'some', not score 120 to 140 a game.

These four are awful. Jalen Rose is okay. It's like listening to the Village Idiots in a bar 8 beers in compared to Chuck and Kenny.

And let's be real, Bill Simmons sounds and looks like a woman dressed up as a man. He's got a voice meant for print or online journalism.

They offered nothing pregame that played out. Nothing. They should really be ashamed. Wilborn was the only one who vaguely gave experience due with no specific numbers like the percentage of teams that lose the first shot at the Conference Finals ... Embarrassing.

Basketball can be a such a simple and beautiful game. On D take away their first option and everything else gets thrown off. The Spurs are fronting and leaning towards ZBo. He's not getting clean catches. This makes other guys have to do things they aren't used to doing.

Simple.

Yes. The difference is if the Grizz are able to take away Parker in Game 2, the Spurs have a bunch of different offensive options. That said, they aren't going to make 12 3s every game.

I love this.

What do you call someone who's been a Roy Hibbert fan since he was at Georgetown?

Answer: a Hibbster!

Saw that earlier... doesn't seem to say anything genuinely new, except that Da-wight's inside people can rattle off all the bullet points that Rockets fans have been prattling on about for the past year.

I'm still pessimistic about the whole thing, and even if he DID want to go to the Rockets, I'd have some serious worries about the team. Not so much from a talent/ability standpoint, but from a maturity standpoint. Harden/Parsons/Lin/Howard would do some unbelievably immature shit. It's the ultimate happy-go-lucky bro group.

Edit: Two other things about that CBS report sounding like half made-up BS. (1) Kevin McHale as a defensive-minded coach? WHAT? Kelvin Sampson was the Rockets' "defensive architect" last year, and the defense was pretty shitty anytime Omer Asik wasn't on the floor. (2) The thought of Dwight and Asik sharing the floor is lol-worthy. Can you imagine the spacing problems? If Dwight really thinks he wants to share the floor with Asik, then he's envisioning himself as an offensive player who doesn't want to work on the defensive end. It's hard to imagine a worse role for Dwight.

Chris Bosh is going to be a Hall of Famer, fwiw. (seriously, he is – he raised a stir earlier this when he said that, then everyone looked at it and said "you know, he's probably right").

So that's 5-4 then.

Is T-Mac a Hall of Famer?

The issue the Griz have to deal with is they are not a big scoring team. So they have to shut down the Spurs offense. The Spurs can win still win in the 80's. If the Griz need to score over 100 they are not winning this series.

What about Yao Ming? Crazy dominant in a short career. I'm not sure how to think about stuff like that. Is Hall of Fame a longevity award, or sheer greatness? How long do you have to sustain that greatness?

The bball HOF also includes your impact on international bball. I would be very surprised if Yao doesn't get in.

bingo

If Manu retires, the Spurs will be $16-20M under the salary cap next year.

I would imagine that the Rockets would deal Asik if they were able to acquire Howard. I'm sure there would be at least a few teams (Celtics come to mind) looking for a big man.

The Celtics can't afford Asik unless they trade Pierce or Green. They won't trade Green for Asik. Houston won't trade Asik for Pierce.

No shot he goes to the Celtics.

Yea, if they dealt Asik, they'd end up with a bunch of cap room to use in 2015 as well.

Asik only has 2 years left on his deal, and that alone makes him valuable to someone (nevermind that he's a great player on the defensive end). Teams always love to upgrade without wrecking their long term cap picture.

If the Spurs get the same threes every game, they will make close to the same number. All except a couple of them were wide open and caught in position to shoot.

If great shooters get wide open shots and passes that hit them in rotation to shoot, they will hit that percentage.

The Griz have to decide if they want to give Parker 35 and not double him. Conversely, if Tim, Splitter and Fat Boris continue to front Zbo, the Griz cannot win if they can't get 20+ fomr Zbo.
