Ari Stewart officially gone

I feel like as a program we are in uncharted waters. At the same time, we are increasing the scrutiny on potential recruits and our brand is at low ebb in the talent marketplace. That is a combination that doesn't generate confidence combined with a charisma challenged coach.

Jeff Battle is the only assistant who is fully embedded in the old era.

And I have never heard a bad word said about that man.

And if you look at coaching regime changes, there are tons of examples where some old assistants are carried over.

Give me one example where a coach was fired and three of the four previous assistants were kept?

Anyway, I'm a huge fan of Coach Battle and think our ineptness and the likelihood of future ineptness has tons more to do with [Redacted] than any of our assistants. That being said, I sure hope that insisting on keeping the assistants isn't one of the main reasons we ended up with the coach we did. Sadly, I think it is...

I'd like clarify that I think our assistants are fine people and good coaches. But when I hear Wellman talk out of one side of his mouth about how much he wanted to change the Wake basketball culture and then recommends that [Redacted] maintain the exact same staff as Dino I can't help but conclude he's being disingenuous about something.

Of course Wellman's been disingenuous -- he's just been spinning PR yarn. I think he sold his soul when he said he was getting rid of Dino because of his lack of post-season success, then he hires a coach with a dismal post-season record. Huh? Disingenuous, for sure.

I see this board is full of all the losers, whiners, misfits, jerkwads, and a$$clowns who give Wake fans a bad name. You are pathetic jokes as fans and people. Your foolishness is exceeded only by your ignorance.

As well as full of people who contribute a considerable amount of money. I know at least 6 people who lurk or post on here who are in the top 100 of the DC.

Also I don't see how the tweet provided on this thread and Ari's "lol thanks" response could be taken any other way than [Redacted] ran him off. I really don't.

ETA: It's not even a Buzzin or a Buzzout thing or a like Ari, don't like Ari thing; I just honestly don't see how it could be taken any other way. If it hadn't occurred there would either be no response or a defense of Bzz. No way anyone says "lol thanks" to the initial tweet if it wasn't accurate.

Yeah I expected a fleshed out response about why Ari was leaving Wake in a 140 characters. He should have talked about the student body dynamics, the difficulty of transitioning from a role player to an impact player, or any other personal reasons for leaving.

Or he could just say lol thanks and move on with his life.

We were not a bubble team last season. What are you talking about?

No way we were 100% solidly in - I wouldn't have been surprised at all if we had been left out. 19-10 overall, 9-7 ACC record and 5th place finish, lost 5 of our last 6 games with 4 of them being bad losses (Va Tech, FL St, NC St, Miami).

Hsigh, c'mon Numbers you're smarter than that.

You don't think he could have said "lol" to that notion, then "thanks" because the guy was saying he'd be successful somewhere else.

It can be interpreted either way. It's not like Ari said "yeah imma get dat bitch back".

you are reading that much into a two word tweet? Where one of the words was "lol"?

Really numbers?

really?

Ari was horrible this year. He was a distraction and he ran himself off. I believe this is a case of addition by subtraction, especially if that addition is Katenda.

Yeah because A) I know Ari B) I'm Ari's age so I for the most part know how people my age act (and tweet unfortunately in this new era of social media) and C) I know how he feels about the situation.

So it's not just the two word response, but I'm 100% comfortable in my interpretation but didn't want to spell it out. Since it's the transparent new boards I'll go ahead and do so: Ari doesn't like Bz and was run off.

How can you argue this once the selections have already been made?

We were solidly in because we were solidly in.

Not saying Ari is not to blame (because he basically gave up) but to say Bz didn't hold the door open and point for him to leave is totally inaccurate.

Is he FBing you while you're overseas?

And if he doesn't like Bz, then that's not really being "run off", that sounds like a decision that is in the mutual interest of both parties.

We were probably the 7th or 8th next to last at large team in. I'd say that's solidly in. If we were the lowest seeded at large team in the tournament I would not say we were solidly in.

It refers to an early post that discussed Bzz taking us to the pinnacle of being a bubble team. I simply stated other than the 08/09 season, we missed 3 straight years and were borderline last year. While I don't see aspiring to be on the bubble as a viable solution - we shouldn't be lying to ourselves and thinking we're the shit.

Ari is mostly to blame then, because he gave Coach Bzz reason to hold the door open and point. We know Bzz likes to give second, and even third, chances (see: Tabb).

There are a gazillion reasons to criticize Bzz and point the blame at him, this one doesn't make any sense though, unless you are just mad he didn't do it sooner if he knew he was unhappy with Ari.

Not saying I blame Bzz, but people seemed to be curious over whether or not Bzz showed him the door or if Ari left on his own.
