Triad Summer league starts 7/8

When did we have CJ take the ball and go the length of the floor and score a game winner minus the BC game when there were only a few seconds left? I don't remember any, but I could be wrong. Inside pick got him a layup against VA Tech. Was that bad strategy?

Georgia Tech. He was trying to drive, but their entire defense forced him to the side. The strategy was the same. Using him as a dribble drive penetrater against the teeth of the defense was never his strength.

The VT play was fine. He just missed the shot (and may have gotten fouled).

You're right. CJ drove the ball to the right of the basket instead of attacking the rim. Threw the ball out of bounds on the baseline. We got a break on the call and had 2 seconds left on clock. Inbounds pass for a prayer from Devin.

He drove to the right of the basket because their entire defense forced him away from the rim.

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stretch_Four_(basketball)

A stretch four is a player that is of power forward size, and usually guards other power forwards. The differences come largely on the offensive end: stretch fours generally have superior ball-handling, passing, and especially shooting skills. This allows them to "stretch" the opponent's defense, creating more driving lanes for guards and more post spacing for centers. Rashard Lewis of the NBA's Miami Heat and Ryan Anderson of the New Orleans Hornets are often characterized as a stretch four—Rashard was originally a small forward, but after his arrival in Orlando from Seattle, he played mostly at the power forward position.

Final summer league note is that Jeff Teague and Gary Clark showed up last night for a while. Then Buzz ran them out of the gym for destroying our program. I made that last part up.

So they were there, but not run off?

Did any of the Culture Club start speaking in tongues? Head's explode like in Scanners? Did they shake hands and hug? Do they view talking to those two the way some people think about handling snakes in church?

(note: mocking the Culture Club not JTT and GC).

Yes, thank you. A 4 that shoots 3s but guards other 4s. Got it. I assume this is an apology then??? Or I misunderstanding ...

They were not run off. Nearly everybody there that I saw spoke to them and there absolutely no animosity at all.

I guess that players don't read the message boards after all, then? Or, perhaps they don't really care what a bunch of obsessed fans think about them?

Was Rountree guarding Moto in this game?

A little bit in the second half. Moto was in a zone so it didn't really matter who guarded him.

Moto guarded CMM a bit and that was interesting to see. Codi got by him a couple of times.

Both CMM and Moto are just different players. Extremely confident in what they are doing. It was refreshing to see.

I'd hope they look like different players in the triad summer league...

So can we all agree that Vytas was a stretch 4, especially later in his career? He was definitely used to help space the floor by being either at the top of the key or on the same side as Big E.

Again, poor comp for Cav. Doesn't mean they weren't the same position.

Also, Coron Williams can generate his own shot pretty well. He didn't shoot all that well last night but can definitely get his shot off quickly and in traffic.

We need him to hit some threes to help out Codi and Devin.

Any word on Daniel Green's injury? I know that they were hoping to know more by late July/early August.

He was walking around without a brace or anything last night. He looked fine, but that is obviously very different than actually jogging/playing basketball.

Did GC run off and get a bj? Oh nevermind, that was Wellman giving Bzz a bj in the bathroom.....

Thanks for that. I hope he's able to suit up for us this fall, so (if anything) Devin and Travis have the opportunity to play in-position.

Yeah I'm not sure how bone got off on the tangent. Yes, they are both stretch 4's. However, comparing Vytas and Cav is awful.

haha. I was simply trying to explain to RJ that Cav was not a combo forward, had never played sf and never would. He said I was full of shit and said he played sf in high school and Bzd made him put on weight to play the 4. I pointed out that Cav played with Coleman, a 6'10" or so center who plays for Syracuse now and the next tallest kid on the team was 6'2" making Cav a 4, a stretch 4, but a 4. I also brought up that Cav played at 225 in high school and 230 last year at Wake making the weight gain argument a real headscratcher.

The first stretch 4 at Wake that came to mind was Vytas so I ended my post with 'think Vytas' and then PH pitbulled in on that and ran with it, declaring that Vytas was anything but a stretch 4 wherein I was forced to actually use google to remind myself that Vtyas shot 3s at a ridiculous per minute rate his last two seasons thus proving him to be a stretch 4.

And here we are. With neither an apology from nimrod 1 or beatnik 2 .
