Grobe Stepping Down - Press Conference @4:15

I think he could absolutely get a job back in the MAC or another lesser conference. UVA could be an option, though I don't know that that would work out well.

James Franklin didn't seem to be scared at Vanderbilt. There are always good coaches out there ready and able to take on a challenge.

"my advice for [Ron] would be to consider these guys" no no no do not consider the assistants...

Actually sounded to me like Grobe was encouraging Wellman to make an external hire. Hopefully Ron was listening

Per their coach, Chesapeake (Va.) Western Branch CB DaiQuan Lawrence and RB Terence Ricks are no longer committed to #WakeForest

This. He was saying Ron would go in a totally new direction.

This is going to put even more heat on Buzz. Many of the casual fans are pissed that Grobe is gone yet [Redacted] is still here.

Great. They were actually solid commits.

We'll have to find some 2-star recruits elsewhere I guess.

Not surprising. All the coaches they got to know will be gone. New coach/staff will have to re-recruit them.

This press conference is not good for us. Reading between the lines, he's kinda saying that winning at Wake is just too hard and he got tired of fighting the good fight. Hiring the right guy to take over this program is going to be hard. What Jim Grobe is saying now will only make it harder if any potential replacements listen (or more likely, talk to him).

Lord, I am as happy as anyone that Grobe is stepping down because it's the right time but I certainly don't think he's out to stick it to us or make it harder for us to hire a replacement. I know some on this board really dislike him but come on people.

Mike can answer for himself but I took (and am listening) it to mean Grobe's focus on the academic issue and other challenges isn't an intentional "fuck you." It's insane for anyone to think that. I think he's just saying that talking about reasons for leaving may inadvertently work against us. Not intentionally.

It's really too bad Lobo wasn't forced out a few years ago. Woulda been interesting. Definitely gonna miss grobe, but it was certainly time.

Grobe would get hired in a heartbeat as a HC at a MAC or CUSA school looking to establish a program. 5-7 year committment from Grobe.
