While its fun to play expert here, at one time, the vast majority of posters on a predecessor of this board begged WF to hire John Pelphrey as WF's basketball coach. In retrospect, not such a hot idea as Pelphrey is a 45 year-old assistant at Florida, after Arkansas fired him in 2011 following 4 uneventful years there.
No idea who WF's next head coach will be, but predicting who will be successful is not so easy. Looked like Kansas made a good hire with Turner Gill. Looked like USF made a good hire with Skip Holtz. Looked like UVA made a good hire with Mike London. Looked like WV made a good hire with Dana Holgerson.
It's fun to banter about names, but winning in college football is really hard. Every BCS schools spends a bundle of cash, and hires coaches with really good resumes and really good connections, but for every winner there is a loser, and not every hire is going to be able to overcome the disadvantages that faces WF football.
