Wake - Richmond Game Thread

Who cares how much they like him? they clearly like each other and they're becoming a really fun team to watch. there was some actual energy in the Joel today and although we looked like ass for most of the game, we gutted out on an ugly one.

They come for the opportunity ... the competition, the conference, the school, the assistant that recruited them ... they come for many reasons. They dont come specifically to play for Bz because they dont know what that is like when they commit. It takes a year to understand what the full experience is like.

Last year's experience with him was not a positive one for the players. This year has been better ... so far. The players were excited to win a game today that they thought they had lost. Let them celebrate the emotion of the moment without trying to read too much into it.

I'm not defending him, just saying you probably don't play for a coach or stay after a year if you dislike him.

The Joel looked about 1/4 full on TV. Lower bowl was about 1/2 full and the upper deck was empty.

Lower bowl was close to full. Still could fit the entire crowd in the lower bowl. But it was better.

Lower bowl seats about 6500.

You stay if Wake is the only school giving you a chance to play in the ACC. I don't think they hate him like many here do, but I doubt they would cry if he's fired in March.

Agreed, basic self-interest

7k was probably fair today. 2/3rds in lower and a handful in parts of the upper.

You're miserable

Why? The fact that anyone thinks this was a big win should get Ron Wellman fired.

The players like him. Some of you need to just accept that.

I accept that the players like him. And I don't care. He sucks.

Fun to watch? That was a fugly game today. We did not play well or look good against sub-ACC caliber talent today.

they also gave out free tickets to every cub scout in the triad and to anyone who showed up with a toy

This is a great passing team-best passing Wake team in a long time-a little prone to over passing. We typically rack up a lot of assists spread across the line-up.

Too many careless TO's today. Limit those and we win by 20+. A lot of unforced errors, not real focused for long stretches.

If the NIT actually used KP then 61 would likely be in but they don't and even if they did 61 wouldn't always get you in.
Huh? 68 teams get into the NCAAs. 32 teams get into the NIT. That's 100 teams. 61 is not a bubble team, that's solidly in the NIT.

Not necessarily. #58 Minnesota didn't get a postseason bid at all for 2011.

It would be a monumental turnaround to make the NCAA tournament from where we were last year.

The game wasn't a beauty pageant for sure but we lose a game like that 10x out of 10 with any of Buzz's prior teams. Given the development we've seen from the sophomores there's reason for hope.
