Maybe but the Lebron/Kobe decision is in no way equal. Kobe already had 3 rings.

Kobe's super douche move was when he demanded to play in LA as a HS kid

Myabe but the Lebron/Kobe decision is in no way equal

You're right, I over-simplified. My point was just that Kobe could have done what LeBron did, but the thought would never enter his mind. Kobe is a winner who loves challenges, and LeBron is a loser.

I'm most happy for Dirk. He has wanted it so bad. Dude has busted his tail day in and day out.

Jaybone is a Spurs fan, right?

So how do the Mavs look for next year? Caron is back. Chance of a repeat? I think Kidd can function at the level he did this year, which makes our chances somewhat good. No doubt Dirk has a couple good years left. He's only gone up and seems to still be rising.

It was obvious even before The Decision that LeBron was a giant douche. He's from Cleveland and describes himself as a Bulls, Cowboys, and Yankees fan. Hell he used to wear Yankees hats to Indians games when he was playing in Cleveland. Nicknames like "King James" and "The Chosen One" should have tipped most people off years ago.

Bingo. Remember the whole thing about him getting investigated for getting a Hummer in HS. At one game, he played with a remote control Hummer on the court. Always been a douche.

The post about Kobe not doing free agency was laughable. First of all, he played himself as a free agency before he got drafted. And instead of sticking with his team or being a free agency, he sold out Shaq and forced management to choose. Douche.

Nonny, I have a tough time believing that Nike and Disney didn't have a say in Nike's top basketball client booking time on Disney's sports network.

Jaybone is just wrong all the time. Actually I think he picked Dallas in this finals series. But he did that out of spite and was trying to throw his curse on the Mavs.

Quick thoughts:

Very happy for Dirk, Kidd, and Cuban. Well earned and deserved.

I like LeBron and have no problem with what he said at the presser. He's right: people who get off on his failures do have social problems.

Am I the only one who sees parallels between the Heat and Dino's stacked team? Hyper-athletic, overwhelm most teams, but can't figure out a tough zone and suddenly lose the ability to make jump shots when the going gets tough (both teams made plenty of outside shots when the other parts of the offense were working well, but not when challenged by a good D). I put a lot of blame on Spoelstra. A Carlisle-coached Heat beats a Carlisle-coached Mavs any day.

I dont think Spolestra is the problem. Was he a great coach for three quarters every game and then became a bad one. It comes down to execution and Miami's players didnt execute down the stretch.

I loved how Cuban let Don Carter (first Mavs owner) hold the trophy first. Classy move.

Where's Jaybone?

I never post during games. I watch.

So, haven't read thread since well before game, so I have to admit that Jason Terry had one helluva week of basketball. Mavs don't win without he, Barea, and Chandler.

He hit some clutch shots in the 2nd half and had a monster 2nd quarter.

I found myself even smiling on some of his makes. I still don't like him, but wow.

Congrats Mavs fans on here. That was an epic win. I now feel a little cheated out of a Spurs - Mavs or Lakers - Mavs Western Conference Finals though.

I did say before the series I thought the matchups in this series heavily favored the Mavs, but I thought the Mavs were total toast after Game 3.

How 'bout JJ Barea? The new Derek Fisher, only with speed and the ability to get to the rim.

I do very much hate that Deshawn Stephenson can walk through life a champion though, and he's able to claim he was a vital piece to a championship (true). It's like if JR Smith were to win a championship. The world is a slightly darker place now ...

Spo's not the problem. The problem is that you need a fucking psychiatrist (or a zen master hmmm....) to figure out wtf is going on in Bron's head when he goes into LeNigma mode.

Spot on.

Did not pick them out of spite! I swear. The matchups just favored the Mavs I thought because they had a guy (Marion) who had the height and speed to cover Lebron and they wouldn't really lose anything on the offensive end.

I also thought that because Bibby or Chalmers were always going to be on the court, the Mavs could hide Terry's bad defense better. And I thought Kidd could do okay on Wade.

I'll be the very first to admit that I was way wrong this entire NBA playoffs. I picked a Magic - Spurs final for chrissakes and neither team made it out of the first round, but playoff series are always about matchups. The Heat might very well have buried the Lakers (last year's Lakers) in a 7-game series and last year's Lakers probably beat this years Mavs, but just looking at matchups the Mavs had to feel pretty confident when this series started.

Congrats to Dirk, Kidd, Jet, all those vets. Well-deserved. It's been a long and hard road for them having to deal with a decade of the Lakers and Spurs. Also, good for Peja for getting a ring too. He deserves one after what happened in 2002.

Lebron didn't choose to take a turn as a heel. I'm not sure where you're getting that. Lebron's team of PR neophytes staged the event to be a dramatic, exciting act, but it backfired hugely, making him a heel. Lebron wanted to be (still wants to be) an adored hero. He was just too foolish to see what was going to happen.

A team of high school level advisers cooked up the Decision with an agent and Jim Gray. The sponsors still can't believe Lebron intentionally burned down the image they'd s carefully constructed.

He compounded that disaster with putting his foot in his mouth, down his throat and into his intestines at the Miami event.

Then throughout the season he acted poorly. He blamed everyone for everything.

I'm stunned that the people at CAA of Nike haven't done anything with him.

the most amazing thing about "the decision" is not that it was such a horrible idea, but that lebron and team didn't realize it was a horrible idea. in fact, they thought it was a great idea.

This is what happens when you assemble a team of under-30 non-college advisors to run your business affairs. And don't go to college yourself.

in some ways, i thought the Nike ad from last fall ("what should I do?") was Phil Knight's way of saying, "you guys really screwed this up, and I now I have to spend a lot of money to try and fix it."

For everyone who didn't see this in the Fuck Lebron thread
this is an ad that was in the Miami Herald today.
