Thanks for the support. Just had a good lunch conversation about Career Services' sucktitude as well as our senior class.

More than 10% of our senior class applied to be Wake Forest Fellows, a position that pays $28,000 and no room for advancement. That tells me that there are a LOT of seniors who have no idea what they will be doing soon.

Congrats, Nonny.

But I don't think the fellows thing is indicative of anything about Wake Forest. Most young adults have no idea what they want to do. I'm about to turn 24, and I have no clue.

sucks to hear, but you can temp. i guarantee you will be smarter and a better worker than 90% of the staffing agency

Just an unfortunate observation that I have made over the last few rounds of seeking employment:

Almost everyone is overqualified for the jobs to which they are applying in this economy.

Yeah, I've been applying for jobs that only require a BA/BS and have gotten straight rejection e-mails. Do I need a PhD?

Absolutely true. Particularly tough on recent graduates with less work experience.

Listening to the Across the Universe soundtrack. So solid. I really want to watch the film again now.

Agreed. And it's leading MANY people to then go to grad school or law school when it's not something that's in their best interest. This hurts them but also the people that actually want to go to grad school for legitimate reasons other than delaying finding a job.

It sucks for everyone...more employee supply, less jobs demand...just thought I would flex my mad business skillz with that statement.

I am super thankful that I found a job. I can't afford grad school.

Yeah. Even though my job sucks, and I may want to do grad school down the road, I don't want to accrue any more debt until I'm sure of what I'd want to go for or if I would even really need to go.

And even though my job is only temp right now, it gives me a little peace of mind while I look for something else. If it runs out, (and this may sound arrogant but it is true) I'm 100% confident that my staffer will have me first in line for the next temp thing.

So what was the deal with DUnit? I thought he really was an ALE officer.

Back when I was applying and getting nowhere I thought I'd pick up a few hours a week doing this new Wellness Coach program at my local Y. It's sort of like a personal trainer light. I'd meet with a person, discuss their goals, and give them exercises to do, then meet every week for a quick check up. I'd basically done this same thing in undergrad as an HES major.

It was free to members so I'd just be making $8/hour, 8 hours/week. Met with the guy hiring and he loved me. Get a call a week later saying they had hired someone else.

Know why?

He had a masters.

Yeah, I said $8/hour.

Law school applications are down significantly this year.

I just sent my deposit to Georgetown. Holler.
