Hypothetical: Who Replaces Bz at the end of the season?

I think it's more of a situation where people will be in there anyway since they put out a food spread with an open bar.

I mean, I show up whenever there's free food and drinks...hard to believe that someone who can give $55K+ (probably more now) a year is that worried about a couple free whiskeys and finger food. Then again, that may be the only value they're getting out of their donation these days.

Pretty much. Plus they can bring the booze to their seats.

The Clawson hire might have taken some pressure off of Ron in terms of his competency, but it cranked up the pressure on Bz. They are obviously complete opposites and the powers that be recognize the difference in energy from the fanbase for the 2 sports.

It will take an impressive new coach to get the so called lunatic fringe back given how affronted we feel by Wellman.

Good win for Archie Miller and Dayton last night over Iona (#98 Kenpom). They have one "bad" 7-point loss @ Illinois State (#152) and a 1-point loss to #12 Baylor in Maui.

They've done a good job of challenging themselves in the non-conference.

at Georgia Tech
Gonzaga
Baylor
California
USC (at the time they thought it could be a tough game)
at Mississippi

If you wanted to hire the top young coach Sean Miller would be near the top of the list. Since we can't get him,his little brother might be a good choice. At least, he knows his way around the old ACC.

It will take an impressive new coach+ several deep runs in the NCAA tournament to get the so called lunatic fringe back given how affronted we feel by Wellman.

FIFY, at least IMO.

That should have been the standard for any coach brought in after Dino. Given what was stated publicly about why we fired him I expected Wellman to hire someone that could take use at least to a sweet 16/ elite 8 in the first 4 years.

If he makes the fix after this season and the new guy can come in and get us to that level quickly I think many of us will be able to begin to forgive Wellman.

My question to the board is, if the talent had been gutted, like it was and Dino had been retained, do you think we would be any better off than we are today? The wrong hire came after Skip passed, we are still play catch up from that.

We would be fucked, possibly under NCAA investigation by this point.

Bullshit. This gets thrown out there continually without any support. Either put up or shut up on this argument. I haven't heard from a single employee or big-time booster who can verify this to be true. We didn't have anything close to the Hairston situation going on at UNC, and the NCAA hasn't even bothered to investigate them. What NCAA rules were being broken? Spell it out. You made a claim, now back it up.

Yes.

I think that the 10-11 team would have won 15-16 games.

I think one or two of the Woods, JTT, Ari, Ty, Melvin situations never happens. Meaning we have more talent on the team over the past three years.

I think the 2011 class would be lightyears ahead of what buzz brought in, the 2012 class would have been more balanced but comparable and the 2013 class would have been better. Dino proved he could recruit.

I think we would have missed the tournament in year 1 and 2, snuck in last year and be solidly in this year.

Dino was not the coach to take our program to the next level. Wellman's real mistake was not waiting a year to fire Dino (after an inevitable bad season of 15-16 wins) and then bringing in a real coach.
