Most NC counties are dry tonight. It's going to be cold as hell, no doubt about it, but there's not going to be any ice on the roads in many of these counties that are closing. I don't know - I like the idea of being able to look at my kids tomorrow and say, "It's shitty out there but the world is still spinning. Go learn something." The fact of the matter is schools used to open on days like tomorrow. Things are different and I'm not sure that's always a good thing. When the going gets tough, do something else? When it's super cold, stay home? How about when it's cold, wear three pairs of pants, five sweatshirts, socks on your hands and a towel around your head and go for it? Give them something to talk about in a few years.
WSFCS is going to drop any minute now. The note about buying time re: buses starting versus just closing makes sense. But if you're delaying solely based on temps, well, it's going to be 7 at 7am and 9 at 9am - it's cold either way.
It's getting harder and harder to teach your kids to adapt/overcome/improvise (I love me some Heartbreak Ridge) to the world around them.
