This. The Olympics are my means of getting out my blind patriotism once every 2 years. It is a great release valve for pent up patriotism. Look what happened the last time this country has an unbridled release of blind patriotism outside of the Olympics....a law was passed that has contributed to the erosion of civil liberties and people supported invading a country under false pretenses just because we are 'Murica. It's a valid question.

My guess is that the IOC gave them a pass because the lettering is very small. Also, the Olympics have an integral component that includes national anthems, so they probably don't see it as demonstration/propaganda. International sport generally likes to give America a hard time with things, too.
 
The point about the Olympics and national anthems is good although the IOC doesn't include the words.
