• Welcome to OGBoards 10.0, keep in mind that we will be making LOTS of changes to smooth out the experience here and make it as close as possible functionally to the old software, but feel free to drop suggestions or requests in the Tech Support subforum!

So Wednesday is the big game (WF-VT predictions/pregame discussion)

Who the hell are you, redwing, to speak for the board? Have you ever donated a penny to the operations of this board....or are you just one of the many on here who have never donated a cent, but run their mouths and try to speak for everyone?

I swear, the richer that people get, the cheaper they get. Wake Forest today is living proof.

It was a glib comment I shouldn't have made, primarily because it went against my own personal guidelines of not responding to you. But since I already have, I'll go ahead and respond again and leave it at that.

For one thing, I didn't realize that the amount of money you donated to the boards got to determine how many people you spoke for. That seems very... oligarchic of you.

I have been on these boards since they were founded, and I left Scout primarily to get away from three posters that were ruining virtually every thread over there. One of those posters never showed up here, one of them has gotten better, and then there is you. You are right in that I can not speak for the rest of the board, but given reactions to your posts since the last time you left and came back, I would bet that a significant percentage of the other people here are just as sick of your sanctimonious, nonsensical tripe as I am. This is not the Indiana boards. This is not the Texas Tech boards. Not every thread needs to be about Bobby Knight and comparing him to what is wrong with sports today. Don't get me wrong, I liked Bobby Knight as a coach. He was able to use intimidation and toughness to mold great teams back when that was acceptable. Most players really appreciated his style in the long run. But it does strike me as funny that you are indirectly linking Bobby Knight to one of the worst coaches in recent college basketball history by constantly defending the indefensible. But hey, I guess since you had the money to spend and spent it here, that gives you the right.

Tomorrow (January 21) marks the 2 year anniversary of our last conference road win. We have not won a conference road game in 2 years. Just so hard to wrap my head around that no matter how many times I think about it.

That's gonna leave a mark.........

Wake is undoubtedly better than VPI, but I don't know if we will win.

I think we pull it out 67-65

amazing....

Nah, they're all in there. I even had season tickets, though I stopped going to the games after February 19th, when they blew a 9-point lead in the 2nd half against Carolina and lost 83-72, dropping to 1-11 in the ACC...after going 13-3 a year earlier and returning three starters, including two All-ACC players.

(And by the way, this WF team is not going to go 3-13 in the ACC like that 2006 team did....and it doesn't have a bunch of seniors and two All-ACC players.)

While I hate to break out KenPom (I'm lying I love to) I need to do so to show the fallacy of comparing exact records across seasons. It's correct that this year's team will not go 3-13 like the team in 2006, however the team from that year is five spots above that one. We're currently 87th in KenPom for 2013 and that team in 2006 finished 82nd. Rank is not the end all be all since there are different years where teams are better across the board, so let's look at the pythagorean score where the team in 2006 is also better than the team this year.

The reason that team went 3-13 is because the ACC was absurdly good in 2006. The teams are basically equivalent.

Don't see us winning a close one on the road. If we do win it will be by around 5-7 points after wasting a 15 point lead in the last 5 minutes.

Well, in the first place, I think we are going to win more than 17 games. The 2006 team got an NIT bid after going 3-13 in the ACC & 17-16 overall. (Though the sorry bunch of quitters shouldn't have gotten one. I knew they would just mail in one more non-effort from Minnesota. 73-58, I think it was.)

Most of all, I want to win enough games to retain [Redacted].....for the same reason that Jim Williams continued to live in Savannah.

Take notes, Richard Sherman. That's how you do it.

I don't like our chances down the stretch in a close road game. I agree with whoever said it will looks like the Clemson game... Though perhaps more scoring.

VT -74
Wake - 68

I'd assume this is also viewed as a big game / must win for VT... In that when they look at their remaining schedule, this is one of few winnable games.

I think we win this one just to fuck with those of us who want Buzz gone - just to add to the torture of "is he or isn't he gone". He's a skater - get by with the minimum he can get by with and hang on.

I don't think beating a team who is quite literally worse than Elon this year has any impact whatsoever on [Redacted] coming back. If we lose then we should fire [Redacted] after the game.

During Staak's tenure, how did the road record compare?

ACC road win. Hats are hung on such monumental achievements!

LOL. Man, I wish my alma mater had a guy like Richard Sherman to make me proud. In 10 years that guy will probably either be dead, in prison, or living under a bridge after he has left football and blown all his money.

(I'm beginning to believe that nobody here has ever heard of Jim Williams.)
LOL KING TROLL!

Sherman finished second in his class in high school (class of around 500 people) and graduated from Stanford. I'm not saying he might not have gotten some boosts here and there, but there's no question that he's a very intelligent person.

he's a stanford grad who had a 4.0+ gpa in high school go back under your own bridge you obtuse blowhard troll

He is a black man with dreadlocks.

Clearly an intellectual midget. It's science.
