Size-Strength-Speed
Terrific looking player on the hoof -- tall, long, think and with a wide catch radius. Is an imposing figure with excellent feet and a smooth stride. Displays competitive speed given his stature. Can be overpowering when match-up against smaller defenders. Shows some flexibility and isn't too high cut.
Separation Skills
Is sneaky in this area. Uses his size, height and wide catch radius to gain advantages against tight coverage. Can create an advantage on vertical routes due to body control and size more than speed. Shows some suddenness off the line for a bigger player -- has very good feet. Has a strong stride to get into routes quickly and cover ground. He is not a disciplined or polished route runner yet -- he rounds off cuts, gears down into breaks, etc. More of a backyard player downfield.
Ball Skills
Consistently catches the ball clean and away from his frame. Will show the occasional acrobatic grab. Has big, strong hands and is able to adjust and elevate to haul in poorly thrown balls. Very good with balls thrown above his head and showing focus in contested matchups or in the red area. Can double catch at times. Must maintain focus.
Big Play Ability
Shows deceptive run away speed and a smooth stride, but isn't overly sudden or explosive in his change-of-direction. He's more elusive. Capable of using size and first-step quickness to elude the first defender. Biggest plays will come downfield in contested matchups. Can be effective after the catch if he gets a seam to exploit. Picks up momentum on a straight line.
Bottom Line
We are a little surprised Uter hasn't seen a little more high end attention. He is a very athletic big man that has upside as a route runner. he shows a little tension in the hips, but nothing alarming. He shows flashes of being a big play threat. Works to get open and is a competitive pass catcher in a crowd with consistent reliability. Possesses BCS level tools, needs polish.
