Wake opens +9

When you are a 9.5-point underdog to one of the three undefeated teams in the nation that is 19-0 and ranked #2, there is nothing wrong with a single digit loss. I don't care if it is in the 20th year of a coach's career. Vegas doesn't just pull their numbers out of a hat, Chris.

Which means we'd be a 17.5-19.5 point dog in their building.

Add to that they don't play a fast pace and their zone slows down opponents' offenses. Big spreads against teams like this are not that usual for conference games against even mediocre teams.

It's going to be competitive. Syracuse, while obviously very good, isn't playing great basketball right now. I think they'll win, but by single digits.

Sounds about right. They should have lost a game or two by now but they keep dodging the bullet. Still don't see us overcoming the matchup issues or beating their zone consistently enough to win.

Schedule's going to get a lot rougher coming up for us. We don't matchup well against GATech either, away games at Duke and State, a home game against a tough FSU team before two more road games we'll be underdogs for...

I still see similiarities between this team and the 1975-76 team. This team is not nearly as good as the 1975-76 team, of course, but the direction is similiar. That team started 11-1 before losing 5 straight games....but you could see then that the 1975-76 team had potential and was building toward something much better. The reward came the next year when it started 20-3 & made it all the way to the Elite Eight. This team doesn't have that kind of potential, I don't think, but the improvement from just last year is amazing. We need to find a couple of good players for next year...particularly an outside shooter...to replace McKie & Williams, but a lot of the pieces in the puzzle are already there for us to have a very good team in the next couple of years.

In the next couple of years? We have two more with this gigantic class. So what you're saying is we have some pieces in place but we need one or two very talented players who can contribute as freshmen and sophomores and we'll be good. No shit.

It is very clear that losing is not an issue for you.

Only one coach in ACC history has ever had a team that was ranked #1 in the country one year, then finished dead last in the conference the next year.

You really don't want to get into a game of "firsts" when you're siding with Buzz.

Yeah, we beat a #13 & #12 team by 1 & 4 points. Then the next year we blew a 13-point lead and lost to a #7 seed in the 2nd round....after having to overcome an 11-point deficit to beat a #15 seed in the first round.

And talking about rebuilding... Only one coach in ACC history has ever had a team that was ranked #1 in the country one year, then finished dead last in the conference the next year.

And we lost a very close game to the #1 seed in the sweet 16.

1. Anybody you play in the NCAA tournament outside of a possible 15 or 16 seed, is going to be a dangerous team.
2. Winning is winning.
3. Those two victories are two more NCAA victories than Jeff [Redacted] has had in his college coaching career.

I'm still not sold on the 2016 class ever making the NCAA Tourney, never mind a 7 or 8 seed. Wins over 2-6 and 1-6 teams aren't changing my mind on that either.

I'm not shitting on anyone. I'm just stating facts. Are facts off limits here? Get your head out of your fat ass.

I'm just wondering what bringing up the weaker points of Skip's record has to do with the game tonight.

Just seems like an old man being an absolute prick to me. But, hey, you do you, Bud. You do you.

It's really funny to see him bring up the bad losses or bad seasons under Skip...and ignore the last 3 seasons.

I have never been satisfied with moral victories or doing less with less.

Only chance is if the Cuse is looking ahead to Duke this weekend. We have yet to beat a team that is currently in the top half of the ACC.

And Bob Knight was irrelevant over his last dozen years of coaching.

Just stating a fact.

Well his teams were irrelevant to NCAA men;s basketball for at least 11 of his last 12 years.

In my head I know that we probably won't win this game...but the setup of this has the look and feel of a typical Wake Forest upset. Syracuse looking past Wake in preparation for their match up with Duke and Wake giving Syracuse more than they expected.

Just not happening. Miami last year was not used to being good/highly ranked. Ripe for upset. For Boeheim this is old hat. He's not susceptible to trap games like your average coach.

Plus the ACC needs one of its new standard-bearers to remain near the top of the heap.

We aren't beating undefeated Syracuse!

I've decided to watch the game tonight.

Wake will win as a result, much to my chagrin. Of course, if anything can stop the curse, it's a bunch of athletic dudes wearing the brightest of orange jerseys and shorts.

Hopefully Boeheim doesn't see through the sneaky "0 Stars" disguise and steal our prize recruit Rondale Watson. That would really throw off the Buz dynasty game plan. Its been hard enough shielding him from Charleston Southern....

If that happens we might be forced to give the 4-star 7 foot kid interested in the program an offer...
