Phillip Seymour Hoffman Found Dead

You can read it as sanctimonious if you choose. I don't think expecting someone to put being a father ahead of heroin as being morally superior...

I think it shows a pretty poor understanding of addiction

Totally understand it. Liking it and celebrating it, not so much. Heroin and his addiction won. His kids lost.

Who is celebrating his heroin addiction? The guy was a brilliant actor and now he's dead. That's why people are talking about him. Its very sad that he left behind young children.

who is doing that?

Seems you actually don't understand addiction as well as you think you do

Perhaps not…

I did spend a few years in my mid 20's teaching HS in a fairly depressed community. I never saw a parent OD, but I did teach about 6 kids whose parent OD. Wow.

It's been 20 years since then, and I just had heard over the holidays that one of those kids OD too. Brutal cycle to break, I guess.

Listen…I get it. I think that Hoffman failed as a father. You don't. You think I am arrogant and sanctimonious in expressing that thought. I feel that most of the replies to my posts have been arrogant and sanctimonious in telling me I am arrogant and sanctimonious. It's all good…no worries.

Apparently we're all celebrating PSH's addiction by discussinghis great acting ability instead of discussing his children.

I had a random-ass dream involving PSH Saturday night. We were trekking through frozen tundra looking for a party at an ice castle. I told my wife about it shortly after waking up because it was humorously odd. About an hour later, she yells across the house that I am creepy and PSH is dead.

Normally on a Sunday, she just yells the first part.

No one posted about his performance as a father. We posted about his performances as an actor. Then you climbed up on your high horse and stated doing your thing. He was a beloved actor, and you trolled his thread. fuming sweet, dude.

So apparently one can't express his displeasure or disgust with the destruction that comes with heroin addiction without being a pariah. Maybe the observation is so obvious that it doesn't need mentioning, but I can't think of a better time to bring it up than when a talent like PSH is taken from us. It's not like he's going to be reading this thread. Some of you need to quit acting like you're protectors of every addict out there. PSH fucked up, and I'm sure if he were still alive, he'd admit as much. If he survived and blamed the incident on the "disease of addiction", what do you think the reaction would be? You can be a slave to your addictions and still be a damn fool.

Of course he fucked up, and he paid the ultimate price. Do we need posters to lecture us about it while we celebrate the good shit PSH did to make our lives a little better?

Good grief :rulz:

Fuck. Off.
