Official National Signing Day Thread

If the Claw needs a scooter, then my kids have two and he can take his pick!

Almost done watching the video. Thanks, cookout. This is great. Hopefully, they'll have some media from the luncheon. Thanks to everybody who recapped it. They covered it really well.

I love Coach Claw so much. I hope people buy into his confidence and raise the standards for this program.

Thanks for the video. I am excited about these kids. John Wolford parade all american 5 state record in FL man the potential of these kids.

Great video. I feel so good about having our program in his hands. They pulled an exciting class out of pretty much a disaster and it's not hard to see why.

when Claws said some players were no longer with the program, any idea to whom he was referring?

All of these kids must have been sure about Wake making these little intro videos prior to signing.

In spite of the late pick-ups, we still had the lowest-rated recruits in the ACC in terms of average player ranking, though several other teams were pretty close to us and our national ranking is respectable. I'm assuming without the "Clawson Effect" additions we would have been well down in the national rankings, correct?

We had the worst recruiting class of any BCS conference team prior to Coach Clawson coming aboard.

I can't remember your exact ranking, but from a week ago, I know Wake made a 10-15 spot jump on NSD. That's a very strong close, and who knows if you would have even been where you were a week ago without Clawson. I'd be encouraged.

Very interesting article regarding Travis Smith and especially his recruiting visit, his conversation with returning players:

Smith already liked the coaches and spent a lot of his visit talking to the current players about how they view the new guys in charge.

“They didn’t get recruited by them or anything and kind of just got stuck with them, and they already love those coaches and are buying into it,” Smith said. “They told me they’re working twice as hard as they ever did with their old coaching staff. It really shows how good those coaches are to go into a new place with players they never even met and get them to accept what you want them to do.”

Can anyone tell me what NSD stands for?

Two more interesting quotes:
Smith is the senior quarterback at four-time defending Division 6 state champion Ithaca, a small community just west of US-127 with the nicest high school football facility this side of Texas — thanks in large part to Smith’s grandfather.

Can’t wait to see what plans Smith’s grandfather has for Wake Forest’s stadium.

Gotta give Clawson and his staff props for a job well done. Clawson got here quickly, put his staff of assistants in place rapidly. Then they identified a bunch of kids who were both highly ranked and "gettable" and fit what they wanted in players, and then went and got them. Also great job in keeping them all in the fold on NSD. No unexpected losses at the last moment is a good thing. Lotta great work in a short amount of time. They've earned a little down time to get re-acquainted with their families and start settling in Winston-Salem. Gotta keep "momma" happy - else nobody's happy.

A special shout out to Coach Himebauch. He kept working for Wake doing everything he could to help the new staff and kept recruiting for Wake even when his own position was tenuous at best. Good luck to him in his future endeavors. Hope he lands a job soon.

A friend on FB watched the PC. Supposedly Clawson mentioned we had 27 visits to campus by recruits and 22 of them signed. Holy hell.
