Spring!

I was giving him a hard time about being so convinced about a subject that has been whiffed on multiple times in the past.

I don't recall any weather forecasts that have ever called for 8-12" and then produced "a dusting" like a couple people said on here. Maybe it's happened though. Doesn't really matter, hope everyone is enjoying the snow.

I had to go out and get my elderly mom dinner and deliver it to her. They closed the cafeteria at her retirement home.

The driving really isn't that bad except for all of the idiots that can get you stuck. They either (a) overuse their brake, or (b) go too slow and lose traction.

There was no doubt this storm was going to hit us. One look at a map from the weekend would have demonstrated that.

This is one of the biggest snowstorms to hit this area in 15-20 years.

Of course it was going to hit us. The variance in predictions of amounts of snowfall in the days leading up was quite amusing. The weather "experts" constantly changing the predictions is what I am mocking here.

Believe me, I knew this was going to be a big storm. I was all over the WSFCS twitter yesterday telling them they were idiots for waiting as long as they did to call school off today. Of course they deleted every thing I sent them...

I don't know that Drew or I ever changed predictions other than saying it was going to be a wait and see but that it was going to be a big storm (as you said)...the models really never changed much at all. They nailed it and in all honesty it was a very straightforward storm. The people who didn't nail it were the local meteorologists/weather people who as late as Monday were saying that there might be 1-3".

I'm sticking with snowpom, it kind of works and doesn't involve making numbers the king of anything.

Most predictions were for snow to start after noon. I was surprised they didn't go 1/2 day.

Because then school buses would have been stuck on the road in the middle of the storm. Didn't you see everyone stuck everywhere? It takes two or three hours for the buses to make their full runs for all the schools, buses would still be out there now.

The snow started around 1:15-1:30 in north Winston, if the buses had run a half-day it would have been a disaster.

I teach in WSFCS & went in today to grab a couple of things. While I was there, I chatted with one of the maintenance guys about this. He said that buses are on the roads for 4 hours from when they first pick up students at the middle schools to when they drop off their last student from the high schools. As fast as this was coming down & sticking to the roads, it would have been a COMPLETE disaster to have gone a 1/2 day. Buses would have still been on the roads around 2PM.

OH also if you're in DC or Baltimore and you think you'll just go out to dinner and it won't be a big deal because snow "never hits your area" or "it was so nice out yesterday! how can it be bad today?!?!," you should stay home. What happened in Atlanta, Charlotte, Winston, Greensboro, and Raleigh will in fact happen to you. You will be stuck on the interstate too. I know people will be stuck anyway but there's my PSA for those people.

Yeah I have a friend who has dinner reservations at 8:30 tonight. Granted they are maybe 2 miles from her house. But she's trying to be cautious and her husband really wants to go (because he has an expiring Groupon).

This is one storm that is "better" for DC since it's hitting overnight. So no tough choices about closing schools early or leaving work in the middle of the day. Assuming by the time we wake up tomorrow it will be pretty obvious how crazy things will be.

Creamy was being serious and thought everyone else was actually on his side when most were just joking and giving me posrep.

Wrong. I don't want internet friends nor did I think "everyone was on my side". At no point did anyone including myself think that you'd get banned from the boards for a weather prediction. I guess as sad as it is, these silly threads and your silly internet club are the center of your existence. Go have a cold one and enjoy the snow.

Totals are going to be cut in half at least. We have a raging sleet storm in Davie County. Was supposed to stay all snow with minimal mixing.

It's like 21 degrees and clear where I live. THERE IS NO SNOW CREAMY.
