Dale Hansen is such a bloviating jackass. He's hardly tolerable when just doing sports, and more intolerable when making some self-important rant about gay players. Sportscasters and writers need to stick to the sports and shit that they think they know about. Just tell me the score to the Mavs game or tell me that Buzz has been fired. Hansen's opinion is about as important and relevant to me as Champ Kind's. Let the political talking heads talk about this dumb shit if they're so inclined. The lecturing on this issue is so over the top and obnoxious.

We've got gay football players then last night during pairs figure skating, all the dudes were straight and marrying their female partners.

Just had a chuckle about that...but in reality, there's always been gay football players and straight figure skaters. In the long run, who gives? I'm sad this kid's dad took it so hard, hope they can heal and be good w/ each other soon.

Shocker. BBD being a gigantic homo and putting things (in this case, words) in my mouth. Let me elaborate on why Hansen's segment is stupid.

1- He compares criminals to homosexuality, implying first that the two are comparable and second that the criminality isn't also itself a distraction. Let John Stewart make these points. They are at least funny when he does the same spiel, even if the comparisons are equally stupid when he does them.

2- He is being fundamentally dishonest because he doesn't differentiate between types of distractions. This isn't a criminal distraction. It's a media circus distraction, a la Tebow. Michael Sam just became the media's cause celebre. He is a distraction of the media's making, something Dale Hansen-- a major veteran sportscaster in a major media market-- most certainly understands.

There's a lot of ridiculous stuff in your posts on this thread, but perhaps this is the most ridiculous. Sam was the Co-DPOY in one of the best, if not the best, conference in college football. He will be the first out player to ever go through the draft process, where there stand a good chance of him getting drafted. This is more than him being a distraction of the media's making.

What happened to a sportscaster who doesn't incorporate social or political views because he actually realizes they aren't necessary to the job?

If this guy came out and started harping on the evils of ObamaCare, he would be a fool. When Lennox pulled the hit piece on Josh Howard and the Iraq War, I was pissed at Lennox.
