Every time I see this thread back to the top, I start to get angry at drew. Then I read it and forget about it.
Just think though, about the time your power comes on, Buzz should be getting fired. So, silver linings and all.I'm one of the lucky ones in HP still without power. In fact, the crews haven't even started repairing the two utility poles on my little street that were completely taken out by giant trees. We're hearing it could be Thursday until we have power restored. This straight up sucks.

Capital Weather Gang saying 5-9" Monday.
Well shit. So the way things look today, the storm is unfolding much like the last storm that brought icepocalypse. HOWEVER, the cold air will be stronger through the column of air from the ground up, all being forced in by a strong high pressure system straight chilllin' up north. As a result, icing looks to be much less of a threat. Instead it may start as a rain and then transition to mostly snow for the areas closest to the VA border in NC, possibly pushing farther south into NC west of I-85.
All that being said, the last model run or 3 has come in a bit warmer which would mean more of a frigid rain for Monday. Unfortunately the models such ass as correctly picking up on the intensity of the cold air damming, which is the thing which makes it cold enough to turn the snow to rain.
In any event, it bears watching. But I still think that the NC areas that get any snow will see only an inch or three at best.
I am pulling hard for a cold rain.
