Press Conference: 6 PM on Tuesday, 6:30 "Mann The Quad"

He learned everything from the ground up from team manager to assistant coach.

He can relate to every player on the team because he's experienced every role there is on a basketball team.

I like that answer.

"Has reached out and left a message for one of them" referring to a HS recruit.

Manning hasn't been able to speak with one of the recruits yet? Rondale?

I think someone just asked about [Redacted] and fan unrest. Answer was "Can't control the past, only look at the future, we will work hard, go after championships, roll up our sleeves, lets go to it."

Jeez Shutt, no need to yell, bro!

Found him very likable. He's got a nice, easy speaking style (and a slight Southern accent) that I think will play well with players, recruits, and their families--particularly in and around NC. Definitely looked much more comfortable and confident answering questions about basketball than during his opening spiel.

That ended awkwardly. Was the umpa lumpa guy talking at the end about going to the quad Steve Schutt?

Also didn't look like a lot of media was there. Just caught the end though.

Yep, that was DV7's BOI Shutty!

I was not thrilled with the hire, but am much more excited about Manning now. A few folks have posed the hypothetical: "how would you feel about Manning in a year or two after he makes another couple NCAAT appearances with Tulsa?", which also makes me more excited.

I'm impressed that he's maintained so many contacts in NC. That should really help with recruiting. I can't imagine any scenario in which he isn't a better recruiter than [Redacted].

Very likeable guy. You could tell the press conference isn't his element but he's a good dude, very easy to support, etc.

Our sports marketing looks like a high school or D3 school. Seriously, there are small schools that I have seen with better media, PR, and sports marketing departments. If we wanna "cut down nets", it's time to up our digital and media game. Hint hint, that's how you appeal to a wider fan base, a younger fan base, and recruit and build excitement for the program.
