Official 2013-2014 NBA Thread: TIMOTHY THEODORE DUNCAN #5

If that's Lil B at the end, that's the most perfect gif in the history of gifs

Mention the Harden trade to Thunder diehards and they will post that Harden bad defense video, on repeat. They* actually think they're better off without him.

(*Not all Thunder fans, of course, just the stupid ones. Which seems a sizable amount, based off my Internetz recon.)

My parents are Oklahomans. Nearly all of my extended family lives in Oklahoma (Thanksgivings: O, the humanity!). Thunder fans generally know very, very little about the NBA. It's not their fault, really. They just lucked into an all-world team and now get pissed every time Durant doesn't score 55 points.

I am a bit of a NBA salary cap nerd and I have never heard of the exception RJ is talking about. I guess it is possible but I have never even heard anything like that brought up.

Relating to the Thunder - They could have kept all 4 together (KD, Russ, Harden, Ibaka) under the luxury tax. Without too much trouble. It is surprising how infrequently that is stated in the media. Would have had Reggie Jackson and Nick Collison and Perry Jones with those 4 guys for nearly the whole window of their contracts too.

Presti was just too scared to completely hand tie his flexibility. And given how he hard he had been hitting on players leading up to 2012 his ego probably figured he could continue to crush if he had the flexibility to maneuver.

That gif is gold. Man, I love that movie.

Jackson was one of Collins' assistants.

And if by "used car salesman guy" you mean Stan Van Gundy, no. Pat Riley replaced Van Gundy early on in their 05-06 championship year. Spoelstra then replaced Riley a couple years later.

Google! It's there!

Fuck Google!!! Ask is the schnitzel!!!!!!!!!!!

I would prefer to lean on my pickled romantic brain than that fantsy schmansy all being. I am reminded of my favorite 70s comedian, agent J. "Sometimes I go off into my own little world, but that's okay they know me there."

Thoughts:

1) Nice blonde highlights Hedo
2) Did the arena really roll with the Final Countdown?
3) Rick Fox is a good looking man. No Homo.

Thoughts:
1. Too bad they didn't save any mojo for Game 6 and 7
2. Foul on Bobby Jackson guarding Kobe
3. The officiating in this game was no better than Game 6, it was just in reverse.

Great short Goldsberry piece on a play the Spurs use to generate corner threes:

You are dumb.

ETA: In fact, so dumb I'm going to ETA. You want that foul called on Jackson? Have you ever watched a non-Lakers playoff game? No one, not even the Heat, gets that whistle, in that moment, for a slight shove in the back from a player six inches shorter. Upset that Shaq got called for six fouls? Any particular whistle you'd like to complain about? Didn't think so. And how about that Webber pick on floppy floppy Fisher on that Bibby shot? The only ref who might blow his whistle on that is Joey Crawford. He's on the other side of the court.

No, Game 5 wasn't Game 6 in reverse. The FBI didn't investigate it. Tim Donaghy didn't allege that two of its refs were involved in a fix. Grantland didn't do a 90,000 oral history on it. Game 5 was a garden variety NBA playoff fuckjob. Just wait until this weekend for (at least) one more of those. Game 6 was and still is the mothership of NBA conspiracy theories. Why? Not because of a couple errant, messy calls, that's for damn sure.

Yes, I bit. Don't care! That faulty comparison could not stand!
