Wake Forest - Arkansas Game Thread

Good test for the team and Manning

Just want to see us competitive and not lose by 40 like would have last season

It's not like this team won 10 games last year. We started 10-2 with wins over Richmond and roughly the same Tulane team. Instead of Arkansas we played #2 Kansas and were down 5 at the 2 minute mark despite McKie not showing up.

Not sure if it's dancing on [Redacted]'s grave or setting the table for Manning apologies should the wheels fall off...

Don't they play a pressing, aggressive man to man? If we can move the ball we'll be ok. I'm worried a lot more about a disciplined zone.

I have looked over the TWC schedule for the Greensboro area, can't see the SEC channel. Help? Thanks.

Actual line is -13. That's more in-line with expectations.

Not wagering, but I could see us covering that number.

It do believe it opened at 10 though.

The game certainly has potential to be a blowout but Arkansas is not a juggernaut. Northeastern and Wake are roughly equivalent and so are FSU and Arkansas, yet Northeastern won by three in Tallahassee yesterday. FSU was an 11 or 11.5 point favorite and those teams put on a pretty good game. That's not to say there isn't going to be a blowout, but Arkansas would have to play above their grade mixed with Wake playing well below for it to get really ugly.

Might as well make this the game thread.

It's not like this is last year's team. We lost four of our Top 6 scorers. We lost three of our Top 5 rebounders (which was a huge weakness to start with). We lost our Top 3 shooters in 3 pointers made (which was also already a weakness).

Look, I think Dinos is going to be very good. Devin is a stud. Codi is a solid player. We will play harder and smarter. However, it's not logical to think we are as talented as last year.

Hopefully we will overachieve. But it's extremely unlikely we'll have as good a record as last year. If we do, Danny will be on the very short list for ACC COY. I'd love to see it, but it's not realistic.

I want to see our team grow, play hard every night and play smart. If all goes well, we will be in a good place to add talent become a much better team next year.

We will get blown out at some point due to our turnovers. Difference is, it might only happen once instead of ten times this season.

Interior passing of our bigs should be a strength against this. Going to need to knock down open perimeter shots when we get them.

Wake is more talented than they were last year.

We have far less outside shooting. I hope Dinos continues to improve, but that's the only chance our rebounding would be as good (?) as last year.

I am confident we will play harder and better, but until someone starts hitting some threes, it will be much tougher for Devin to score than last year.

Rebounding was horrible last year. We were worse than 200th in the nation in offensive and defensive rebounding percentage.

Our offensive rebounding in the first two games would rank as the sixth and seventh best games all year last year while our defensive rebounding in the first two games would rank as the third and fifth best performances from all of last year.

I don't think we're world class rebounders, but I do think we will end up considerably better than last season.

Exactly. We'd have to work hard to not be as good (bad) at rebounding as we were last year.

IIRC, we were top 10 (or 15 maybe?) in rebounding in the country headed into the Xavier game last year (after we had gone through all of the cupcakes). I just think we need to see a few games against good competition before we say this team is more talented than last year. Nearly half of the players getting minutes have played 2 games of college basketball.
