Our beagle/dachshund hasnt had a problem with them either, and he's barely 30 lbs.
Report back on how he likes it!
i had heard mixed reviews on antlers. mainly that they are so strong that dogs can break teeth on them. anyone experience that?
DF07 - so glad to hear that about booger! Glad that draining the fluid helped and he's back to having some more energy.
Had a really, really rough past weekend w/ Jackson, to the extent that I was nervous to even leave him to go to the movies Saturday night. Sunday wasn't much better, and then I was a total wreck on Monday about it (Because Jason was out of town all weekend and I was scared about the situation he was coming home to). Monday night Jason got home and Jack wasn't even able to get up to come greet him at the door... it pretty much sucked, and drove home the fact that we're doing this all on a day-by-day basis right now.
Now today, Jack was up when I got up this morning and went down the stairs/on a walk like nothing was wrong. So, SO glad to see him doing better but it also makes the whole process really hard - I would hate to decide to do something, with the lingering thought being that 'tomorrow might be a 'good' day.'

This is exactly where my parents were with their 16 year old lab mix over the summer. One day she would walk a mile and the next she would fall down the stairs. Such a hard place to be in =(

We are there right now with Chester. He takes carprofen and tramadol on the bad days and just carprofen on the good days, but he is really starting to struggle. I think we are going to have to make a hell of a tough choice soon and it's killing me to think about it.
The hard part with the good/bad day is cycle is that most dogs are so resilient, that their good days might be bad days they do a great job of covering up.
