College Football Coaching Carousel (2014-15 Edition)

There is a theory going around in DC that Jay Gruden is trying to piss-off Dan Snyder to such a degree (e.g., his public criticism of RG3) -- the latest is his decision to punt when the Redskins were down two scores with 1:30 to go (first time in 47 NFL games this year that a team decided to punt with less than 3 minutes to go and down two scores or more rather than going for it) that Snyder will agree to massive buyout to dump Gruden (Gruden is owed $20 million over the next 4 years), and then Gruden will take the Michigan job. Gruden has failed so miserably this year that I am not sure why Michigan would want him, but at this point, not sure who else is in the Michigan mix.

Jim Grobe approves.

Apparently, Dan Mullen has not signed the extension that was previously negotiated with Miss. State; so, some are nervous in Starkville that he is in the running for the Michigan job.

Not official yet.

It is now.

That's a really weird story. Bo wasn't doing THAT bad at Nebraska was he? They weren't contending for national titles no, but they had 9-10 wins every year.

And I really don't see how a coach that wins 9-10 games every year at Nebraska ends up at Youngstown State as his next job.

Is there more to this story that I'm missing?

Pittsburgh radio says these are Pitt's candidates to replace Chryst (will be announced as Wisconsin's coach tomorrow).

Tomsula
Bradley
Rudolph
Schiano

I don't think so, necessarily. He wasn't going to be up for a big gig after getting fired at Nebraska, he's from Youngstown, and he'll rock and roll there for a couple of years and perhaps have his pick on his own schedule.

And now add Houston to the number of schools that has made a better coaching hire than the University of Michigan. I see Brady Hoke Part 2 patrolling the sidelines in Ann Arbor next year. What a dumpster fire!

Brady hoke might be the least worst option to replace Brady hoke at this point

Colorado State interested in Georgia's OC Mike Bobo...

Carolina thinks they are getting either Gene Chizik or DJ Durkin (former UF DC) for their DC position.

Not a coaching change, but West Virginia athletic director Oliver Luck is leaving the school to become the second in command under NCAA president Mark Emmert.

Winning 9/10 games a year doesn't mean as much as it used to since you can play up to 14 games now. I think Nebraska got tired of losing four games every year. I think that was the issue..

They never seemed to win any big games under Pellini.

Rightly or wrongly, people had the perception that Pellini was very rough around the edges and a bit of a loose canon. He seemed out of place at Nebraska.

rightly or wrongly? really? who thinks "wrongly?"

Michigan will reportedly offer Harbaugh 6 years, $49 million.

If you're gonna chase a good coach, that's the going rate. Besides Mich is going for broke at this point. If they don't get him, its retread city.
