Congrats to Coach K, and they have two stud guards. But, the nation saw how Duke wins games:

Lets review the last 4 minutes:

Winslow charges and no fourth foul, actually call foul on Wisconsin
Jones charges, and given a 3 point play
Okafor does not pick up 5th foul after hitting Frank's arm
Winslow steps on baseline Duke Scores, and given three point play, and miss shot
Ball off Winslow's hand and they still give ball to Duke

NOW WE SEE WHY WISCONSIN DOES NOT SCORE

I had a chance to watch Wake play Duke this year at the JOEL, almost the same script.

What a BS GAME.

Someone should edit the end of the game and put it up on YOUTUBE.

They saw the same thing in the 2001 final and it didn't matter.

Good post. You missed the flop by Jone being rewarded immediately after the Teri le block call against Winslow. But very good post.

Duke does get the calls and always has. I will say Kaminsky should've been whistled for an intentional when he bear hugged Okafor.

I think what disturbs me the most is that replay. It was clear as day that it went off Duke but somehow it's Duke ball. They go down and bury a three. Game essentially over at that point. Between that and the shot clock call against Kentucky that should've been reviewed, it makes you wonder why the hell they even have replay.

This.

I understand missing plays in real time, whatever. I guess refs make mistakes. But when you miss an obvious/objective call on replay like that then what's the point? I feel like pulling a BKF (though for different reasons, since he's a fan of teams full of one and done players like duke) and calling it quits for CBB. The officiating in this tournament has just been a mess.

The replay wasn't that clear. The announcers were saying they thought he touched it despite it really not being clear that he did. That's exactly the kind of "did his fingertip graze the ball" type of thing replay is not supposed to overturn. It's supposed to fix calls that were clearly wrong, not overturn 51/49 calls.

College basketball has a serious officiating problem if this NCAA tournament was the "best of the best" refs. At least this game was called consistently, even if that meant ignoring all hand checks, holds, and out-of-control drives into players. It's not Duke that's the problem - Michigan State or West Virginia would have played it the exact same way. It's the absurdly bad refs and absurdly bad rules.

WTF, were we watching the same replay? That was about as clear as at it gets that he touched the ball. There were at least two angles showing it clearly/the ball moving and changing directions as his fingers touched it.

I was at Duncan's final game against Stanford...he got no calls

You are correct, of course - that game was a travesty. That doesn't change the fact that fans of other teams said continually that Duncan got all the calls. Notice that I did not say that Duncan actually got all the calls - only that all the other fans said that he did.

And no way I am wrong on this one - I lived it.

I agree - they should have overturned that one. They seem reluctant to use replay to overturn calls - it has to be ridiculously obvious before they will.

The ball bent his fingers back in an unnatural and obvious way. It was clear as day.

Sorry, man, but the replay was clear. Now I don't know how big the replay screen is that the officials are viewing, or if they are getting feedback from somebody not on the court who is viewing it, but it was clear as day on the shitty 40 inch tv screen my blind ass was watching from 20 feet away.
