The Pit Parenting Thread

Somewhere, LK's youngest is sitting back and laughing at all of this talk about "big kids" as he laces up his size 25 shoe and steps in to his 55" inseam pants.

For serious. When we started talking with Mrs. LK about fitting in a third carseat and I said E wasn't close to weighting enough for a booster, it kind of blew her mind since there's a 2 month age difference.

He weighs as much as his 8 year old brother, and he's not fat or overweight at all.

Our food bill is outrageous.

Looking for pediatrician and daycare recs in Winston, please!

Ford, Simpson, Lively and Rice has been our pediatrician for all 3 boys.

We've used First Baptist for daycare/preschool for all 3 as well. No real complaints except the cost, which I figure is high at any quality child care facility.

If you have access to it via work, make sure you take advantage of Flex Spending Accounts for child care.

How old is he? How much does he weigh?

LK can correct me, but he'll be 4 next month and I believe Mrs. LK said 47 or 49 pounds (baby brain, I can't remember exactly. - E will be 4 in July and weights 32lbs.)

lol. my older boy is turning 4 in 2 weeks and weighs 29 lbs.

My boy just turned two and is 35 pounds. Birdie is 4.5 and weighs somewhere in the 40s but she's hella tall and thin.

My Boy is 3.5 and all of a sudden he's like scared of shit at night and wants to leave his bedroom door open all the time. This is an unwelcome development.

We just went with it when this happened as long as he stayed in his bed. He sleeps with the door cracked and with 3 nightlights. It was just a battle we weren't willing to fight.

The problem is that our house is pretty open, so with his door open, he wakes up in the mornings when we wake up or his sister wakes up, when otherwise he would have kept sleeping. Then he's a big grouchy dick for the rest of the morning.

What if you closed it once he fell asleep? That worked for us for a little while. Also, E is a really sound sleeper once he falls asleep so that's lucky for us I guess.

Why not close his door after he goes to sleep?

Why not tell him you're in charge and the rule is he sleeps with his door closed ?

Maybe if both of your devil worshipers tried a different deity, your terrified children would be all

Guys, of course I've been doing that every night. But then he wakes up in the middle of the night freaked out and then I have to open it again and leave it open. Or, like last night, he must have woken up and opened it himself in the middle of the night, because it was open when I woke up.

Try taking the Baphomet statue out of his room.

Get him a bed like this and he'll never want to get out of it.

This reminds me of a friend of mine whose dad apparently looked like Robert Englund. When Nightmare on Elm St. was huge, this dad used to put his kid to bed, turn out the light, close the door, and then STAY IN THE ROOM. The he would scare the shit of his kid. What a dick. Anyway, it's probably worth trying this strategy.

Do you have a dog? I convinced my daughter at a similar age that the dog walked the house at night checking on things Making sure everything was ok. every time the dog walked in the room I would comment on it "yes, dog everything is ok" or "thanks for checking on us."
