NFL Offseason Thread -Tom Brady beats the NFL

Devin Funchess was a good pick up for the Panthers. If he can overcome his character issues, he should be a big and effective target for Cam.

Funchess is a hell of an athlete but he doesn't have the greatest hands. Cam is not know for putting balls right in the targets hands. That would be something to keep an eye on Imo.

Guess I haven't been following very closely but surprised to see Hundley and Diggs go in the 5th round. Were those steals, were there issues with them, or were they just not as good as I thought?

On the coverage this morning they were talking about how if a QB doesn't go in rounds 1-2 they tend to slip because in the later rounds you're looking for depth and versatility and since you don't see QB's playing special teams they don't add a whole lot.

Diggs is a good player, but got hurt every year. Hard to project him. I loved him, but the 5th is right. Could be a good slot, or could live his NFL career in trainers room.

Hundley is inconsistent, especially accuracy. I've always thought you should take a QB in the first or in the late rounds. Can't play 2 so any good one will be a first rounder. Developmental QBs should be taken often, but late, which fits here.

Bud Noel signed with the Bills.

Blurb from footballguys on Kevin Johnson to Houston:

Houston - The Texans could have drafted a wide receiver, but Kevin Johnson is a ball thief and sticky cover corner who can help leverage more benefits from a defensive line that will gain Vince Wilfork and Jadeveon Clowney this year. When you have to get past Andrew Luck to win the division, drafting a top corner isn't a bad angle, and Johnson has the feet of a ninja

My jersey transition is complete. I'll revert it back to Andre when he retires, or maybe never if KJ has a great career. For now though, it was an easy fix....

Anthony Wooding will try out for the Packers. Not a contract based on what I read this morning.

Found out a kid I coached as an 8th grader was given a UFA contract with the Texans as an OL. Sort of crazy- it was a basketball league that had him and Prince Shembo (4th round pick of the falcons) playing on different teams.

None of the kids I have coached are in much danger of being drafted in anything. Some won't even qualify for military service.

Kendall Lamm?

If he was drafted late and didn't like it, he could hold out, not sign, and go back into the draft next year. Since no one drafted him, he can only be a UDFA, and if he gets cleared of all charges, he'll have his choice of offers. Plus, he can redo his contract in 2 years where draftees have to wait 3.

But yeah, sucks for him if he's innocent.

If he's cleared, could his agent demand Collins get a contract on par with a 2nd round pick (1st may be greedy)?

It would be whatever the market would bear. I would think a bidding war would get it pretty high. If market doesn't reach his anticipated draft slot, then he sits for a year.
