BC game thread

"learning how to win" isn't a thing

"learning how to play good football, which leads to wins" is

You're wrong, teams need confidence that late on a tight game, they can come out on top. Seen it many times, late on close games teams that have lost a lot don't believe they can come out on top. Learning how to win is a thing, playing good football makes it much easier.

it was a minute left and they had zero timeouts. take a knee which would take 2-3 secs. so now there are 57 secs left with a 40 second running clock. so, 17 secs left. on fourth, let kinal run laterally along the back of the endzone and take the safety. Then kick it off with about 10-11 secs while they have no timeouts. just saying, that was an option too based on how the game had been going and their woeful offense.

If it's third and 10, I might agree with you.

But from a pure odds perspective, I don't think you can justify taking a knee in that situation. Literally the only way you can be worse off by running the ball is if you fumble, which while it happened here, is not very likely. The odds of picking up the first down and ending the game are many orders of magnitude higher than fumbling. Had he not gotten the first down, you would still have the option of taking the safety, which probably would have been the right play

Clawson has done a pretty good job this year IMO of getting from where we were last year to now.

Agreed, some real improvement on offense this season, even with today's game in there.

And Clawson/Elko have proven over a pretty significant sample size last 3 years that they can put good defenses on the field.

Some moran on my Facebook feed is trying to say that this team has not improved one bit over last year

The defense is very good, weaker at the corners than last year (no surprise), deeper overall though.

I'll wait for Deac94's game post, but i thought this was the best effort of the season from our defensive line. Some good improvement there.

This game was an abysmal dumpster fire that could have only happened through the combined efforts of two terrible fucking football teams. It was easily the most entertaining Wake game I've watched in years, but not for any of the reasons one usually enjoys watching a football game.

Two terrible offenses - today. Our offense was good against FSU. A great defense (BC) and a very good defense (WFU). You just hate WF, that's all.

Colburn will be coached up that the first down was 3rd most important aspect of that play. Possession, clock were first two. Run the play even without first down, clock burns down to about 20-25 secs. Then you either let kindle punt away leaving bcc maybe 15 secs and half field plus or take the safety and let Alex kick freely

I know you're probably on auto correct but "kindle" is hilarious here

Hines needs to be coached up too after fielding that punt and almost getting a safety.

I think we are much improved over last year. The talent we have on the field is better and the results have been better. Still a ways to go, but were improving. Just need to mature and keep recruiting better talent. I watched some of the 07 game vs. FSU the other day and the talent we had on the field then is a long ways ahead of what we have now, but we're getting there.
