Law firms sound they're full of terrible people.

They aren't all bad. I have somehow managed to land at a decent one that understands work/life balance.

Used to work at one that only wanted me to be chained to the desk. Here are some of the awesome things that happened there 1) would call me on the cell if I was not at my desk by 8:45ish; 2) Required a smartphone, did not pay for it; 3) Told me I was there to do their work only and not try to develop clients; 4) Gave me a bad review for taking time off when my daughter was born; 5) Told me I could not go to the gym during my lunch break; etc. Basically, the worst place on Earth. Just before I quit, one of the partners called me into his office and asked what I was doing on Saturdays, because I should be at the office more. Uh, no thanks.

They certainly sound like quite an entitled bunch.

Lawyers, especially Southern lawyas, serve an essential function to the smooth operations of the world economy and societal good. Why, just recently, I filed a suit on behalf of a client against one deacdiggler for identity theft and cyber-stalking. Mr. diggler will soon know that the arms of lady justice reach far and wide in righting wrongs.

What about any of the above discussion made lawyers sound entitled more so than other professionals? Have you talked to anyone who works at Google or any of the other 'new -age' tech companies. Now THOSE people sound entitled.

And what's worse is that they aren't professionals.

My #hottake on there being so many entitled lawyers is that it use to be a very well respected profession but in the 21st century lawyers have the become viewed as the white collar version of hatchet man.

Also I guess lawyers think they deserve respect because they went to school for longer and have an advanced degree. Like we're suppose to treat them like doctors or something. IDK.

Snacks and sodas aren't an entitlement thing. It's a lot cheaper to give us some free stuff so we can keep billing than it is for me to run down to the lobby a couple of times a day.

Or just pack a lunch.

Billing is so stupid.

Yeah, idk. If getting pissed about the stuff in my post makes me act entitled, then I guess I do. I feel like most of the problems are 21st century office culture issues that exist in most places.
