This. I have also found that in the years I have gotten a flu shot, I tended to get fewer illnesses like colds, bronchitis, etc. So I'm all about having a stronger immune system overall.

I prefer to get my flu shot right before I get on a 6 hour airplane fight.

How sick are you people getting? I think I had a 24-hour low grade fever once last year. Before that I don't know when, and I treat my body like an amusement park and have three kids in the house.

Why don't you whitesplain to me how to be healthy ? You're body shaming me and I'm feeling unsafe

Wife always gets a flu shot. I never get a flu shot, but always get static for not getting a flu shot.

(The last time I had the flu was 1987.)

Last year, wife got a nasty case of flu. I didn't get the flu.

I think she's still pissed.

Too bad no one else treats it like an amusement park!

So your wife is weak and you're strong. Triggered.

Never a big flu shot guy and never really got the flu. Got the shot last year and like clockwork got the flu 2 weeks later.

Last year Harris Teeter gave $5 gift cards if you got the shot. Paid for a tasty sub after the shot. Also I didn't kill any olds or babies so win/win.

Waaah just saw the email that they're doing this again. I feel gypped. All I got was protection against the flu!

Better be careful throwing around the ethnic slurs, awar. You never know who the board gypsies are.;)

Yeah, this has been the case with me in multiple years so I've stopped getting the shot. The wife and kids got theirs yesterday though.

This is a flu shot, not fucking polio. It's not like it works all the time to begin with. It is still a crapshoot even with the shot.

I got it last year, not yet this year. Usually get it cause I'm in drug stores so much

I've had one flu shot in my life. That year, I got the Flu... Haven't had a flu shot or the flu since.

i'm not because i never get the flu so i just assume i have natural immunity. if i ever get it i'm sure i'll change.

You guys know it's scientifically impossible to catch the flu from the flu shot, right? These are the worst #anecdotes ever. Unless you're getting the nasal mist (the option for wimps afraid of needles), then there is 0% chance you got the flu from the shot. You were going to get sick anyway, and probably should have gotten the shot sooner.

Fair enough, but I think minimizing the spread of a disease that causes over 200,000 hospitalizations a year and killed 140+ kids in the U.S. last year is worth a relatively painless shot. Its effectiveness is certainly much lower than a lot of vaccines, but even a 60% effectiveness rate in a disease that impacts so many people and is much more dangerous to certain people than people think is worth it.
