NC State - Wake Forest Game Thread

Yeah, but I am ticked that opposing fans get so many tix on the WF side. People if you can't attend give your tix to Wake fans (or if we're playing State give them to UNC fans)!
I AGREE!
I sit in the black seats on the west side so supposedly folks had to pay some decent money just to buy the tickets there. There are absolutely too many opposing fans sitting in these areas. I understand corporations giving tickets to employees, but come on, there are individual ticket holder around me and opposing fans show up a lot. Are we selling these tickets? I can't imagine trying to sell at a better price than someone could get outside the stadium. I refuse to give my seats to the opposing folks. I will eat the loss first. I have bought some opposing fans some seats on the east side away from the students. I didn't feel too bad about that.

It says a great deal about the competitive zeal of our fans. Perhaps the lack of success has resulted in fans treating games as if they are intramural instead of intercollegiate. We need to win and change expectations! We need to create a fan base that is dead serious about competing.

The evidence of lazy coaching was pretty obvious to see from the product on the field but I didn't think Grobe was so blatant.

Equally bad stories with Russell Wilson and a few others concerning Grobe incompetence and the incompetence of his assistant coaches. Some guys from NC that wanted to come to Wake and they never bothered putting forth the effort to recruit them. One guy ended up going to Penn State, was a starter and now is an assistant at a triangle ACC school. Grobe was his own worst enemy in many respects. He got his $ and decided to retire. Still wish he had taken Arky and hit the road.

This has been an age old problem for Wake. W-S is saturated with UNC and State alumni along with a multitude of bandwagon UNC fans. A lot of the big $ ticket holders pull for Wake until their alma maters visit. We're the perpetual little brother from a fanbase perspective. Winning helps immensely for any program, but especially here. In the golden ages of Grobe, Prosser & Odom, our fanbase was pretty robust. When we're down, apathy takes over.

Grobe going golfing or Scheier taking his daughters to fucking Hooters? Who does that?

Seriously, one needs to raise their daughters the right way and show them top priority for the future job market. Are they lookers or what? Do they have Hooters potential or are they more the Perkins variety?

On a side note, after the game, I saw Freddie Robbins at a local downtown hotel bar and I saw Ovie Mugahelli a little later at a downtown restaurant. It makes me very proud to talk with two alumni who are intelligent and engaging. I and my people had a great conversation with them.

Any idea as to their thoughts about the direction of the program?

We actually chose Skylar Jones over Russell Wilson. But who knew back then? We could have had Wilson easily, but Skylar was a top notch runner/passer from Ohio back then.

I think I would have been better off not knowing that. That's up there with Odom almost having Matt Harpring.

The Russell Wilson story is completely true. Wilson came down to camp at Wake and bowled them over and was hoping for and would've accepted a Wake offer. However, the Wake QB coach just never called Wilson after he got home and Wake "fell off the radar!"
