Triad restaurant comings, goings and recs

So let me get this straight, you think a chain restaurant in the middle of nowhere has the best dawgs? No way. Skippy's all day. That pretzel bun is the best meat delivery vessel ever.

Char's hamburgers on Waughtown is a great little cheap burger spot. Plus its locally owned and the owner is cool as hell.

For Indian food, we've started going to Golden India more than Nawab. http://www.goldenindiarestaurant.net/ Its half restaurant, half Indian market. The food is great and the store is great for picking up unique spices.
Golden India is a cool spot, and much cheaper than Nawab (for us poors), but Nawab tastes much better IMO, and the portions are bigger.

I always hit up Golden India for popodums, naan and curry paste

Golden India used to be the only game in town. A decade ago I'd eat there every Sunday night. I'm more than happy there, though Nawab in my opinion tastes better and I go there more often. Turmeric was really good too, shame they didn't last.

Gosh, a bunch of Knight's restaurants I've never even heard of let alone eaten at. I guess meat and two places aren't the type of restaurant I end up at on my occasional dinners out. Or maybe they are just lunch spots.

Golden India was my jam when at Wake. But now that I live like 3 minutes from Nawab... there would be no justifying driving all the way to the north side of town to eat Indian there.

Does the husband owner still walk at an incredibly slow speed? Super nice guy, but holy crap he is slow.

Although, on second thought, Nawab doesn't have a keema matar. Maybe I'll go after a game at Sara Lee or something for that. Theirs was absolutely delicious.

Not gonna lie, I feel like my food game is pretty strong. Try some spots. PM me if you wanna know dishes to try.

I don't really eat wings or Chinese so I'll probably not check out Waldos or Sampan.
Filling Station is good.
I'd never previously heard of Murphy's Lunch or Dukes.
Haven't had a burger at Putter's.
Have had Skippy's once but mostly just remember the pretzel roll, which is always a favorite, but shouldn't the hot dog itself be the key part of a good hot dog? But I think too much about hot dogs, they weird me out.
I've had Cha-Da Thai, but Teeter Thai is my favorite.
Haven't been to Nawab in a long time but in my memory it was tasty.
I think you later said you meant Little Richard's, that is fine bbq.

I guess I just don't dine out much in Winston (especially when I'm not dating). My group gets in ruts of favorite restaurants, for the rare times we go out to dinner. Most often, I eat at Mellow Mushroom after their run club, or Foothills during trivia. We have some friends who've moved away and they always want Mooney's when they visit, so we visit there a couple times a year. Five Points is a favorite brunch spot, partially just because it's large and there's usually not a long wait for a table.

I love Mama Zoe's. Consistently solid and ridiculously expansive menu.

I'm not sure if I order more takeout from MZ or Waldo's.

the burgers at putters are meh. the buffalo chicken wrap on the other hand is god's food
