Triad restaurant comings, goings and recs

BJ's Restaurant/Brewhouse is now open at Hanes Mall.

Who's been to one?

they are all over california. the house-brewed beer is extremely meh, but they carry a very large variety of other beer so that's cool. They have a ginormous menu, and like most places that have a giant menu, they don't do any of it particularly well. The location I'm familiar with is a decent place to watch a game due to huge TVs and big beer variety, and they do wings and stuff good enough for drinkin' and game watchin'.

Where are they going to put that many trucks?

If it's like last year, it'll be a complete clusterf***. Better off grabbing food somewhere else downtown and posting up at Second and Green

Ugh, last time I went to that it was awful. 1+ hour waits at most of the food trucks. Just too small a space and not enough actual food trucks for how many people were there.

Haha, brain twins! We peaced out almost immediately and just went to small batch + mauney's iirc for our food and beer.

Not sure if they've done this in the past, but they are doing VIP tickets as well for early access.

It'll be a hopping weekend downtown, with RiverRun kicking off that weekend too.

Yeah the footprint is larger up to 4th and Broad. Doubled up the # of trucks with options to buy VIP for minimal lines and added beer stations so you can drink everywhere. Most of my friends have enjoyed the people watching/boozing even if they did end up dining out at a restaurant instead but for those who are anxious in crowds its definitely not a great option. The Greensboro Spring Garden event had to relocate to downtown to help with the lines and overall crowd safety too. There's definitely some pent up demand for food trucks/things to do in the triad.

Ahh, VIP option + added beer stations are both great additions then. Hopefully that + bigger footprint helps.
