• Welcome to OGBoards 10.0, keep in mind that we will be making LOTS of changes to smooth out the experience here and make it as close as possible functionally to the old software, but feel free to drop suggestions or requests in the Tech Support subforum!

So how exactly did this happen?

If there's anything I've noticed about you, it's that you're open to learning about and considering other people's positions.

He does. It's just that he considers the framers' opinions to be more meaningful than yours.

I don't know who, but I know if I respond honestly what your answer will be.

If your answer is Bernie, I would ask you a couple questions.

1) Can you imagine how Trump would have treated Sanders on the campaign trail?
2) Would Trump have tacked harder to the right to distance himself from Sanders on economic policies?
3) Do you really think Sanders would have beaten Trump?

I've gotten into this education discussion a million times with someone who is stereotypically Trump's base.

The primary divide we have is that he views education as a waste of time/money because you're not taught anything practical, while others view it as a "not what you learn, but an indicator of how capable/willing you are to work in order to learn."

There is also a point of contention, obviously, between blue collar work that is hard physical work, and white collar work that is easily physically, but probably requires more critical thinking on a day to day basis.

Lol. With respect to the EC the framers' opinion was that the EC was a great way to guard against populism, placate less populous southern states and punt on the issue of slavery.

The EC was designed in part to prevent situations exactly like this one by allowing the political elite to override the will of the uneducated populace when they chose an unqualified political outsider.

So if we are evaluating the EC based on the framers' intent then it is either a failure or a remnant of the slavery era.

1) Badly, but good lord he treated Clinton badly. Her health and competency were questioned daily, as personal and, occasionally, outright misogynistic attacks. He publicly called for her to be jailed and committed himself and his campaign to jailing her. He dragged her husband's history of infidelity back into the public sphere and accused her of horrible things. What's the worst he could do to Sanders? Call him a socialist Jew? He vacationed in Russia? His wife managed an educational institution badly? LOL. Trump does business with Russia regularly, praises its leadership, and just settled a fraud case against him as a result of Trump U. I'm sure Sanders, like most of us progressive Jews, are fully capable of idiots going after our Judaism.
2) Sure, but he would not have had the base of white "disgruntled rust belt workers," or at least not without a fight from Sanders who has a proven track record as an advocate for workers and as a misguided protectionist.
3) Who knows, but the Sanders organization was far more savvy at dealing with Trump than the Clinton organization, in the limited time that they were all engaging with each other. Instead of the DNC's shenanigans, I would've loved to see it play out because democracy or something.

That only those with a degree from a private college or university should be allowed to vote.

I doubt the private/public divide would make much of a difference in that data.

Everyone should be able to vote. But that data tells me dems should push for a more educated populace and tailor their message to a less educated populace in the meantime.

Just a reminder, the first Trump Victory Rally will be in Cincinnati at 7pm tonight! (please don't any of you angry Hillary supporters post pictures of Nuremberg, Klan rallies, etc in response to this)
