Wake Forest's own Tommy Elrod caught leaking football information to other teams

I thought Elrod was really good in the booth as far as a football mind analyzing the game. He provided a lot of insight.

I mostly agree, though it did seem like there were some points where he felt like he had something to prove and was trying to show that he knew better than the current staff what to do.

Maybe Elrod went triple agent on Duke and actually gave them fake info.
 
I for one cannot imagine anyone at Wake being this public with this kind of information without a very thorough vetting of everything that was released by some really good lawyers. Wake has graduated a large number of lawyers over the years. Some of these people are very well connected both to Wake and to highly respected law firms around the country. I would expect that those who are tightly connected to Wake would at least be asked to weigh in before something like this, that could bankrupt the school was made public. If Elrod didn't do this, then he could end up owning most of the Wake's assets.

Even if Elrod did nothing wrong at all, I'm still fairly certain that he doesn't have a $1 billion + claim against Wake. Would it be costly and embarrassing? Of course. But even a $10 million settlement (and seems steep to me) wouldn't have that much of an impact on Wake's bottom line.

That said, I agree wholeheartedly that this was thoroughly vetted before anything was released.

If all is true (which I still doubt), there needs to be a serious debate about why this former employee of the AD was given all of this information. As all know, I'm not on Wellman's side right now. Clearly, the AD isn't calling me to help with anything and understandably so. I want him fired for what I feel is the greater good of my alma mater. They fired Elrod. He understandably felt the same way about Clawson. Why give him the plays? He should be like any member of the media. If all they are saying is true, Wellman should be called to task as well. Bear that in mind as you view this rose colored press release which paints one person as so horrible in an effort to insulate the AD. That's why I want to see what actually happened. I'm glad to fry Elrod if what the implication they are leaving actually happened but I'm not so sure it did until they show it. Further, I'm betting it's not as bad as implicated. Looking forward to seeing it when it comes out.

Yeah. I'm kinda hyped about this. Clawson and Ruggiero are forced to come up with new plays. Wolford's going to have a field day. Whoever is leftover on the defensive side after Elko leaves will have something to prove.

Give it a rest. This doesnt fall on Wellman. He doesnt make the call as to who gets practice or prep access. Elrod was a former player, former coach and current radio broadcaster, of course he was going to get more access than your average media member. You think Stan gets the same access as Collins?
 
Can we take a step back here and question this?? Why are we all so ready to believe what we are told versus seeing the proof that Ronnie is telling us he has?? Maybe he is a fall guy for Wellman?? Could it be that he(Elrod) is taking the hit for MSD, because how bad would it look for this school if it got out that so & so has been sending our plays to x school? Tommy, you love this place don't ya? You don't really plan on doing the radio thing for the rest of your life right? What we are gonna need you to do is sign this clause, sign for this amount of money, gather your things, your family and go find a nice desolate part of the country to live.
Hell yeah it's far-fetched, but so was the hire & expectations we were sold on Buzz.
