Department of Justice investigating Comey's actions before election

Yawn. How hard are they going to investigate this in the next 9 days? I'm guessing it won't be much of a priority thereafter.

Correct. Just a further erosion of institutional control in D.C. Fingers are pointing everywhere and it all looks completely ridiculous. It all feels like a giant power and pissing fight of the worst order.

Really? I still think the insurance rate hikes had a bigger effect than Comey. Could be wrong, but does anyone know anyone who changed their votes because of Comey? Now I can see the reemergence of her email problem maybe persuading a few folks to stay home because they couldn't vote for either. But a week before the election getting notice that you're going to be paying $1-200 more per month for insurance hits you badly in the pocketbook. Because I'm not part of a group, my insurance went up $100 because I'm not entitled to any subsidy. Didn't cause me to switch my vote, but I was pissed at the Dems naivete in thinking all those assetless young folks would sign up for insurance or face that stiff $400 penalty.

She dropped dramatically in the polls that week.

Ironically, the biggest thing that Comey did to damage the Democrats' chances to win the election was deciding not to indict Hillary when he first had the chance to do so. It was the Democrats' only chance to get rid of her and another candidate (not Bernie Sanders) might well have defeated Trump. And don't let anyone try to tell you that the Democrats would have nominated Sanders if Hillary had dropped out. That was never going to happen. Biden would have probably ended up being the nominee if the FBI had indicted Hillary Clinton. That would have been similar to the RFK/McCarthy/Humphrey situation that the Democrats faced in 1968.

Before I answer your question, did you ever answer mine?
I've answered that question and given a synopsis of my life story on this board multiple times. Rest assured there are plenty of conservatives in my line of work, they just all happen to be country white evangelicals.

Please direct me to one of those posts, because I don't remember reading any of them. You can do so by PM, if you prefer. I'm just trying to find out what makes you tick because, as I said, you are probably the most frustrating poster on the boards for me. I don't think that I have ever agreed with a single position that you have ever taken....and that is very unusual, to say the least. I'm not sure that I could say that about any other poster...and there are many posters with whom I very seldom agree.

ETA: And by the way, I am not a white evangelical. I haven't attended church services in more than 45 years. (June 8th, 1968, to be exact.)

comey's actions probably turned the election

Do you really think that anyone who didn't already think Hillary was corrupt - after everything that had already gone on - magically changed their mind because of a vague mention of reopening the investigation?

What do you think would have happened if Comey didn't send the letter? We have it on pretty good authority that part of why he did it was internal pressure. Do you really think there wouldn't have been a leak that Comey was keeping the reopened investigation under wraps? That might have been even worse for her, because it would have set the narrative that Obama was silencing the FBI to get her elected.

Not to mention, none of this is an issue if Hillary isn't fucking corrupt to begin with.

i think there were lots of fence voters and apathy voters who left the fold, yes

Fine, but beyond that, do you think if he doesn't send the letter that it all stays under wraps with all the leaks we've seen over the last year or so?

Also, do you think there would have been as many fence/apathetic voters if the dems had a better candidate than Hillary?

Maybe. But let's say it happens 2 or 3 days later. That's 2 or 3 days of early voting.

Seems kind of ridiculous to dismiss the timing of the announcement. We should ask Hillary if she would have preferred the Comey announcement come a week before her inauguration.

under wraps forever? i dont' know, he basically recanted it a few days later? so maybe? not sure that matters.

what if Trumps pussy grabbing video dropped the friday before the election instead of earlier?

That's not relevant, If at total of 1% of people stayed home or changed their votes in PA, MI, WI, she could have won. He absolutely impacted the outcome of the election and there's no doubt in my mind that he did it intentionally.

It's absolutely relevant. The DNC manipulated the process to nominate a corrupt, shit candidate and now we're stuck with Donald Fucking Trump.

If Comey doesn't make his totally unprecedented, unprofessional statement in October, I think she still wins. He had no evidence. He had nothing and no reason to make that statement.
