HB2 Strikes Again

For a guy involved in the literary business one would think you could read and comprehend what was written. My post theorizes that at some point if CA, used as example, insists on punishing another state (by restricting teams from playing in that state) only because the state has a different view of things than CA, at some point it is likely to be reciprocal. Is CA going to stop shipping CA produce to Kansas? Seems like they would to be consistent in their reasoning.

It's not "different views". It's about discrimination. It looks like we're coming back to where it all started with Brown.

The state of CA doesn't own farms. It's private business owners. Your comment about selling produce makes as little sense as discriminating against gay people.

It's just the cause du jour for the most corrupt, incompetent organization there is. Can't wait for the NCAA to start targeting states based on how they treat abortion, or capital punishment or gerrymandering or jaywalking rules or whatever..... Total joke and that goes for the selective grandstanding by clowns who run public companies and entertainers who think what they do "their art" is on such a high human level that they have special insight that we all can't wait to hear.

OR...HB2 is a discriminatory law that accomplishes nothing, and it is costing the state money.

Interesting that it is not about "views" when that is what it is all about. If people don't share the same view or have a different opinion on a topic then they are considered wrong and a label applied. To label this discrimination masks true events of discrimination (hell, being charged to check 19 bags on American Airlines after the check in period and after having his group get into an altercation with the pilots and demanding to return to the gate, Jason Derulo still cried racial discrimination ). For this to be a raging issue is beyond comprehension. We are not going back to Brown rather we are going back to outdoor plumbing!

Allowing people to be fired just because they are gay is allowing discrimination.

Allowing businesses not to serve people because they are gay is without question legalizing discrimination.

It's not about not "sharing a view". It's about putting into law discriminating against people. You are using 100% the same tactic people used in Greensboro and throughout the south when then denied service to black people at Woolworth's and everywhere else in the south.

Hell, they are using the same Bible as justification to legislate discrimination, legalize hatred and embolden bigotry.

But keep supporting denying honest, loving, hard-working Americans the same rights that you have.

What the hell does any of this have to do with HB2? You clearly have no idea what you are talking about.

Pay attention to the thread. oldman brought up Cal's refusal to play any team from Kansas due to Kansas' laws that discriminate against gay people. That's why YOU don't what you are talking about. But it's easy to be lazy and strike out at RJ rather than looking for context and what the thread was discussing at that time.

Eagle...Philadelphia...Pennsylvania...Penn State...Sandusky?

LOL at the "tolerant" left.

I don't understand this post. Are you a psu fan? Is the expectation that we are to be tolerant of that? Or are we supposed to be tolerant of people who support HB2? Ironically, psu's locker room is a great example of how HB2 isn't about protecting children at all.

Anything that doesn't fall in line with the left POV automatically results in name calling and accusations against the person who offers that opinion. Tolerance at its finest.

That's a favorite straw man of regressives. Essentially boils down to "where's your tolerance for my intolerance?" Which I've actually heard spoken before in what I don't think was a joking manner. There is a fundamental difference in tolerating people's expression of themselves in ways that don't harm others, and tolerating discrimination against those forms of expression. Thinking people should do more of the former doesn't mean you're a hypocrite if you don't do the latter.

I fail to see any arguments for HB2 that aren't couched in discrimination. I could see some merit in the argument about it being a response to the CLT ordinance, but they repealed that last session and the GA didn't keep their word on repeal of HB2. It's not like the same leadership didn't push Amendment 1 too. Not a ton of moral high ground in Raleigh on this issue.

Of course you get to define everything.

The right doesn't namecall or define anyone....Hmmmmmm...

Eagle, do you think "religious freedom" laws promote discrimination against gays?

What do you think about states that allow gay people to be fired just for being gay?

Come on rj. What about that employer's right to not have to work with one of those gays? Don't want them turning the other employees gay. Then they'll miss work because they are too busy do gay things to go to work. It would be chaos.

And don't get me started about restaurants. I don't want to eat near them because I'll catch they gay with them in such close confines.
