Welcome to OGBoards 10.0, keep in mind that we will be making LOTS of changes to smooth out the experience here and make it as close as possible functionally to the old software, but feel free to drop suggestions or requests in the Tech Support subforum!
Hopefully they'll start turning it around this weekend. Rizzo (.227), Schwarber (.165), Russell (.216) are not going to hit that way all year so once they pick it up that will get the offense going. Hopefully moving Schwarber down in the order will take some pressure off. Maybe a lineup eventually of:
Heyward
Bryant
Rizzo
Zobrist
Schwarber
Baez
Russell
Contreras
I miss Fowler. Starting pitching just isn't getting it done, though I think Lester and Hendricks have been ok, Arrieta may be turning it around a bit and appears a touch unlucky thus far based on peripherals. 4th and 5th spots need to be shored up and may be done by the trade deadline. Back end of the pen with Strop, Edwards, and Davis has been plenty good. Not sure where the defense went but would think that's a matter of focus.
Kyle Schwarber's first career grand slam propels the Cubs to 5-3 come from behind win against the Cardinals. Schwarber did two things differently in that at bat. He attacked the first pitch strike and he went to the opposite field with an easy inside-out swing to maximize his chances of just getting a hit to keep the inning going. That approach has been missing all season.
Nice little run we've put together. As to the tattoo I owe the gods...not sure the soon-to-be living together GF is down with that. I missed my month window to get it. Sorry guys.
Schwarber looked good at the plate last night by "just trying to hit the ball". When he is hitting to the opposite field he is productive. Happ is on another roll after looking like he might return to Iowa. Rizzo is alive, well and producing runs. Their production is needed with Zobrist and Russell in deep funks.
Also, this is scwarbs first multi hit game in forever, not sold he's fixed yet, but he's doing a good job of going the other way and not a straight pull hitter, could impact the shift, which would help.
Kyle Hendricks was placed on the 10 day DL, retroactive to Monday, because of inflammation of a tendon on the middle finger of his right hand. Mike Montgomery will make his first start of the season on Friday.
Would love to see Mills or Frankoff given a shot - both are looking decent at Iowa, Mills is a small sample size and may not be stretched out enough yet - but need something until EpGenius gets us Chris Archer in a few weeks.
