ACA Running Thread

Vote won't be held until after the July 4th recess.

8 years to plan and they can't do a damn thing. If only the Republicans had the majority in Congress and the Presidency...oh wait.

To give some of the Congressmen some credit, at least they are shying away from the bill instead of supporting a shitty bill.

8 years. The only evidence you need that it was all for political show.

On the flip side why should Ohio and Tennessee have to pay for the liberal hippy shit CA likes to gift all its residents.

Next year we put into place disability insurance that's a higher % of income than pretty much any company already had in place. Basically means businesses no longer has to pay for anyone's short term disability or pregnancy. Utopia for 2&2.

TITCR. If California wants to pay for Californians, they should do so. If they need money from Tennessee, they should feel free to send state-funded travel to go pic....wait, nevermind.

lol at the idea of Tennessee sending money back to the pool

I get that premiums went up as high risk people got insured, so it stands to reason if those people are no longer insured that costs would go down for the rest.

So you're only solution to rising premiums is to kick poor unhealthy people out of coverage? News flash, that's what we had before Obamacare and healthcare costs were still skyrocketing.

Or how about California ran at a $20 billion dollar deficit prior to Obamacare, and has been at a surplus ever since. 1 out of every 3 Californians is on Medi-cal.

So Obamacare clearly didn't solve the problem, should probably repeal it with something that will. Good thinking.

News flash: California already plays for Californians AND Tennesseans.

What is that a chart of WFFaithful? How many people will lose coverage under TrumpCare if this is passed?

The main problem at play here is that healthcare costs a lot of damn money when you consider paying for: the doctor, the supplies, the treatments, the space necessary, etc. Both parties are just shuffling deck chairs on the Titanic to make it affordable for everybody. It's a very complex problem that requires a complex solution currently.

It's a tough ask to treat health care as universal basic good and also manage the money that it costs to go along with it. Insurers inflate everything to absurd numbers because people go in to get treatment on things that simply do not require treatment. I'm not sure which came first there, but both sides are at fault.

You can't have insurance on something that you know that you will use in your lifetime, it's no longer insurance because the event is inevitable. This is especially true for elderly care. Also to do all the things in their shitty bill they start fucking with people that aren't even in the marketplace by allowing lifetime caps, denial of coverage, etc...
