Retired US Soccer / World Cup Thread (RIP)

Problem was back line mostly. Lacking a little creatively in final 3rd, could've had better passing. But 2nd half I'd say we were clearly better team. Just a shitty goal to give up in first half

and PuliSICK had an off day. Which speaks to your final 3rd creativity problem.

Fab was also very poor all match.

scenic island, Ian?

I am just really PISSED we hired a guy that had already failed once and we expect he was magically transformed into the best coach we could find??? For the record I would be fine with Bielsa or anyone else with half a brain for that matter.

You are a goddamn idiot

Tonight sucked but Bruce Arena took a team with two or three players in the top 1000 of the world and was a bullshit call away from the semifinals of the World Cup.

He performed a mother fucking miracle

And the truth of it all is that if we get 3 in Honduras on Tues than we will still be okay

Go worship Dave Clawson and his win over a D2 team with a hundredth of the funding you fucking dumb ass

The bad news: bc of rain, traffic, etc..., couldn't make it to Rawleigh and sadly missed meeting Brasky.

The good news: ran into Buckets at Mattie B's in Durham.

Can the FJ midfield experiment please end

We new you at LB

The entire match was a disaster, but this is the biggest take away. I've yet to see Fabian offer anything from a midfield position. Get him back to LB and get someone in the midfield that's actually worth a damn

Cameron was god awful
Ream was terrible
Howard offered nothing
Zusi was our 2nd best player
Jozy was the only American that showed well
Navas is a beast
This is mostly on USSF for playing that match there. Just an abysmal decision. How do you fuck that up?

There's my thoughts

Can we get a real fucking coach. And just refuse to play anyone who plays in the mls. Like fuck it if we forfeit, who cares. Force these fuckers to play in a decent league.

Uhh, each team started 5 MLS players last night. Costa Rica scored 2 goals, both from a MLS player. You're way off here.

Also, the 5 MLS players we started: Altidore, Bradley, Nagbe, Zusi, and Howard, we're 4 of our top 5 players last night.

Most of the older guys were crap tonight--Howard, Cameron, Ream, and Altidore in particular.

Disagree on Altidore. Did lose composure to pick up the yellow. We will miss him Tuesday.

That's not saying much, but there's 10 other players to call out before Altidors name should be mentioned

Location was odd since the USSF has been so good about limiting away fans. Was it a case of needing to throw the Northeast a hex qualifier bone? Been a long time since one was in the Boswash corridor. Ticos in '09??

If that was the case though one would've thought T&T would be the game to do given relative lack of away fans

Way too much hair to be me

Really the only way CR ever scores on us is a counter/turnover and so we of course play too cute in the back and with our CBs split 40 yards apart, ensuring they'll have their chances.

On the offensive side we just lacked that final ball all night. Couple fantastic saves from Navas as well.

i don't know anything about soccer but it just seems like we don't have any real specific offensive spacing or play designs. just seems like we either try to lob in deep passes with little chance of keeping possession and hope for the best or have pulisic run down the sideline and cross is back it in to a glob of US players also running full speed to catch up.

There it is. it's a disgrace that we didn't show much given the circumstances, and Arena is on the list near the bottom too. I'm concerned that we actually don't have many solutions to the team's problems, and if we make it to Russia we'll look like this. That would be worthless.

Altidore played hard but sucked I thought. A lot of terrible touches. When he received the ball from Bradley with a great chance on goal and then just dribbled to the endline instead I couldn't believe it
