At this point it's pretty clear to me that he is liking/RTing solely Wake stuff to make it seem like he's only making it seem like Wake is in the picture and then when we all interpret him making it seem like Wake is in the picture to mean he's picking ILL he will pull off the ultimate surprise by picking Wake.

everyone says what an honest kid he is, comes from a good family, etc so a straightforward honest approach sounds plausible. If Illinois was such a slam dunk he would have committed there already.
 
Using the word "trolling" knowing Ayo is watching is disrespectful. If he hasn't made the decision, it could hurt. Why?

It would only be trolling if he picks ILL. So not hurting our efforts unless already picked ILL which then who cares???
 
ANOTHER interesting point: all of Ayo's images/posts have had him (alone) in an ILL jersey or holding a conductor wand, but all of Wake's posts have included team mates/CP3/etc. Granted, some of those images could have been created by Wake and sent to him (given Manning's insistence on team first, not surprising) but it is telling. The team/social aspect of the Illinois team is zero on his social media. Ok I'm reading too much into this. Need to get back to work.

Agreed. The part that doesn't line up for me is if he has know he's going to Illinois this whole time, why draw the process out and impact their ability to recruit around him? I'm sure Illinois has communicated to him that he would be the center point of their class and they would build around him, so why wait to come on board unless Wake is very seriously in the running?
 
Seems pretty obvious to me what has happened and is going to happen. He has always wanted to go to Illinois, but wanted to see what kind of team they would have before committing. Once he saw the other recruits shunning them, and he realized they are going to suck for the foreseeable future, he looked elsewhere. Wake is the perfect fit for him with a loaded class and a need for a true PG after Crawford. No-brainer to Wake.

Yeah, which must explain why people are posting stuff suggesting a press conference at a shoe store on a second rate retail strip (vs. his high school) in Chicago means something about why he'll choose Illinois 50 pages later. The slightly off the beaten Chicago retail path shoe store mojo is a big time tell!!

Here's more worthless speculation and conjecture. If he really wanted to create a buzz when choosing Illinois why the Jordan store on State Street vs. the high end Nike Store on Michigan Avenue? I mean that Nike store is only a mile up the road and pretty much right next door to WBBM radio, WGN radio and the Chicago Tribune. It's also on biggest strip of the most exclusive and prime time real estate in the city vs. the more run down State Street strip. It must mean "something". Or how about he is choosing a shoe store a bit off the beaten shopping path vs. his high school precisely because it creates less blow back when he chooses Wake. His HS, afterall, is probably full of classmates going to Illinois next year as well as any number of faculty who are alums. Of course both of those lines of logic are every bit as preposterous a speculation as the second class shopping district shoe store mojo. And both would be equally speculative and silly because none of us have insights into what is motivating the location of the announcement save a 17 year old kid is rightfully excited he's made a big choice.

Illinois is really just a collection of individuals. It's Mark Smith, Steve Austin, and a bunch of other individuals no one has ever heard of unless you follow the transfer market, JUCOs, and 2* recruits. Wake is a team, but they're a team with open arms. They're a team who wants to share the ball. They want to score several baskets and they want you to score several baskets. If you pass them the ball in a shooting position they will shoot the ball so you can get an assist. It's not like that at Illinois. And I think we all know that because we've all accidentally clicked on the wrong game on ESPN3 and caught a few minutes of grainy action, thinking we were watching a Clemson basketball game. So yeah, Wake's the obvious choice here.

BigBoy, if you are so certain he's going to Illinois, why do you keep obsessing over the boards/Ayo's twitter ???
